I am baffled at John Currie breaking his silence in the manner in which he did last night. This would have been acceptable 3 weeks ago maybe but not after losing to South Carolina and Kentucky!

He would have been better off remaining silent until he announces Butch’ firing. Nobody cares how much fight the team showed or that the players haven’t given up. All VOLS fans, in my opinion, love the players who put on the orange.

Currie is going to quickly lose the fan base if he’s not careful. Butch is a joke of a head coach. I think he is a good person who has poured his heart and soul into rebuilding TN and now it is time to step aside or be forced to step aside. EVERYONE knows, it is out-HE CANNOT WIN BIG AND NEVER WILL WIN BIG IN THE SEC. His record after five years has proven this and his recruiting success has not translated into winning success on the field. There is nothing else to see and it does not take 5 years to figure this out.

-He could not win with superior talent vs South Carolina when the SEC East was on the line (16)
-He could not win with far superior talent vs Vanderbilt when the Sugar Bowl was on the line (16)
-He could not win with superior talent vs South Carolina at home (17)
-He could not win with far superior talent against Kentucky, yes Kentucky (17) HOW DO YOU LOSE THAT GAME BUTCH. How many games like this do we need, gees!!! Go back to 13,14,15,16 and you will see 2 and 3 games that were lost each season due to inept coaching.

Anyone who follows VOLS football could easily add a dozen or more concerning points to the foregoing from Butch’ five years in Knoxville. From a recruiting perspective TN is absolutely better off naming someone, anyone on staff, interim head coach now-effective immediately. I don’t know if the next head coach is Gruden, Frost, Mullen, Norvell, Campbell, Kiffin, Kelly, whoever etc. but at least let the current commits know now or you could be increasing your risk losing Mays, Taylor, Emerson etc. My goodness Brandon Harris decommitted and chose Vandy recently. I don’t think any of our top recruits would come out and bash Butch publicly but do you think any of them will actually come to TN and play for Butch?

GO VOLS!!!

Until Curry states Butch is fired and Gruden is hired, 90% of Volnation will complain about it.

Revenues have already been collected for sold tickets. TV revenues will benefit in the future from additional eyes.

Dumb movement is dumb movement. You have zero impact on dollars for the 2017 season.

Come Christmas we shall all be past this.

I may no longer support Butch as coach, but I think we should support the team! It's not their fault the staff is where it's at.

Is that good support for the players?

I keep hearing this argument, and I get it to an extent. However, some of the blame DOES belong on the players:

Our offensive like (again) plays like marshmallow men
Undisciplined PFs, false starts on the goal line
Receivers don't get open/forget to run routes
DBs let the deep man behind them
QBs not making throws at crucial times
Star RB driving around with illegal drugs in the car

Food for thought

The bowl attendance would be laughable if Butch is still coaching. Nobody is making that trip. Hell, did you see KY and Alabubba?

Currie's comments show me he can't handle this. Really sad. If Currie doesn't understand by now that Butch needs to go then he never will. Maybe Curre needs to go with Butch.

There is a school of thought that believe IF we were to go to a bowl, and win, the AD would have cover for keeping jones, pays the player (?), getting rid of jones and having a chance to bring UT back Pays the Fans, pays the state of Tennessee.
But that is a big IF, even if we win 5, we will most likely go to a bowl (there are so many-almost anyone can go to a bowl these days), but with jones as coach 5 wins is not a sure thing.:hi:

Good coaches make good players better, not worse. I can see where the players are at fault to a degree, but the coaches are holding them back. You can tell where the good position coaches are from the product on the field. Ex. RB.

Currie's statement of "non support support" is exactly what he should have said. Until the AD has a replacement coach in hand, he has basically 3 choices: (1) let CBJ finish the season and make a decision at that time, (2) fire Jones now and let an interim finish the season, or (3) publicly announce Jones will not be returning next year but let him finish the season. IMO, option 1 is the best option. Under that scenario the AD has little choice but to make semi supportive public statements.

There's plenty of blame to go around. If you don't think our guys should be able to go out, man up, and beat down the UMass and Appy States of the world, I think you are misunderstanding the talent and size differential.

I'm sure this is based on the frustration as a player wanting to win reading articles from EVERY sports news outlet that each game is CLEARLY Butch Jones last game.

FOR FOUR WEEKS NOW

And Currie just keeps on letting that bad coach lead these players onto the field.

It amazes me that many Vol fans get ill over those of us who want a winning, respectable, top of the line football program.

To me, anyone who accepts losing as just a matter of fact thing, is unacceptable.

The game is played, and the score is kept because winning and losing should matter.

Butch Jones is a good man, but he has proven he cannot coach at this level. Our team has become an embarrassment because we cannot compete even with lower level teams. The players who have been recruited rarely see improvement during their time here. And our team, (which I hate to admit) is, to put it bluntly, is boring. The entire coaching staff, along with Butch, seems to be very inadequate.

We are Tennessee. We deserve much more than we are getting. Anyone getting paid over 4 million dollars should be expected to produce, and produce BIG.

If we are okay with this type team, and this level of success, I would actually rather give up the entire football program.

The frustrations of our football success, or lack thereof, is too much to look forward to.

Either give it all we have, or stop the bleeding altogether.

I have yet to see you explain what firing CBJ today instead of after the Vandy game other than make you feel all warm and fuzzy?

Also, in respect to your empty neyland movement, i assume you have already purchased tickets to the game?

My own personal movement started 3 days before Butch was hired the same year he lost to the coach Tennessee fired.

My decision.

Everyone was busy sunshine pumping and singing 3rd down for what, talking about energy vampires, and nega-vols. 🙄
