Seriously though, it seems like you extremely limit your play calling ability from the sidelines if you have to physically send in a player with the play call for all 50-60 offensive plays in the game.
When Spurrier went two QB's, he would just tell them the play and rotate them in and out, but he would still signal for an audbile from the sideline.
Helpful...yes. Absolutely necessary at this point in the game? Probably not. Again, some people have limited cognitive space. Knowing and being familiar with the play is much more important than the signal right now.
