Compare to Freeze?

Just figured its a good question being there are coaches who get it done on game day who were in the same or in worse situations than us. Butch is great in recruiting and soliciting our brand but everytime a big game comes we act like we are going to win or make it a game and then coaching trips us up. Its like running a 100 meter dash and slipping on a pebble at the 90 meter mark. Now its time to look ahead to UF. I like our chances more this year than any other but I always have that thought lurking knowing its UF and they have our number. I do think Butch pulls this one out though.

So if we do compare and you decide butch needs to go, my question is who do you hire? Haven't you learned what happens when coaches are fired? He might not be as good a coach as freeze yet. But he's definitely bringing in talent which is better than we were 3 years ago. 13 players are playing from 2013 class. As much as I hate to say it. We are still very young with 3 freshman on offensive line And 2 sophomores. We are definitely going in the right direction. Might not be 10-1 this year but at least we won't be 3-8

Who do we hire? Hows about Gruden at the helm with Peyton as an OC. Duh!...in all seriousness of we have to get a new coach in the next 5 years we need to throw millions and get a National Championship (as in winning one) caliber coach. I think Butch will win here in time if not this year but if it takes 2 more years I dont think the fanbase will be in it with him.

Hugh Freeze is competing with Bumma in the illegally recruiting department.

I hope Butch isn't.

Right now, it's paying off for Freeze.

All that aside, he's a really good coach.

Texas should hire him amd pay him around 7/8 million a year.

Texas desperately needs to start cheating. Asap

Freeze has beaten Bama twice. Butch hasn't even looked competitive with them. Not even close. So, Butch should look competitive this year.
Sure Ole Miss got some breaks, but the breaks only count if you're close.

Freeze went for the TD inside the 1 on 4th down. Got it, and won the game.

Saban went for it 4th down on the Ole Piss 30 early in the game.

Don't they read analytics?

Winners play to win.

What comparison?

Freeze has won big games and been highly ranked in his first 3 years. We've did nothing like that to this point. Freeze has already hammered Butch h2h. I would not want compare these two coaches to each other. It would be silly. A win over an overrated South Carolina team is all CBJ has to argue with at this point. Saturday in Gainesville is huge for Butch.

I like the game day calling of Freeze so far.

But remember, Nutt didn't leave the cupboard bare.

Please correct me if im wrong. I believe Freezes 3rd year was last year and we know how well they did tonl start off the year being ranked 3 and beating Bama and whooping us. I think the article I read said they had won two games before Freeze came in. No way Ole Miss was in a better spot than us and Doofus only winning two games and Freeze has been to a bowl his first three years and won two I think. Butch has a chance to win more this year but ill be the first to tell you I am still on the fence with him until we win some big conference games, i.e. UF. With all that being said with everone saying oh just give him another year we are young. Why not compare him to Freeze who has done more than Butch with a lesser program?

OM will be on probation. Investigations are already starting. Tunsil hasn't played due to improper benefits. There will be more!

Ole Miss doesn't win that game last night without taking chances. How many 4th down conversions did they make? How many times did they pass when most would run? This is the only strategy that wins championships!! Play conservative and end up in Music City Bowl.

Well I was a hated nega whatever for wanting Dooley fired in the locker room at the Kentucky loss. I loved the Freeze hire and once again felt like we had an incompetent AD that had missed an excellent chance to upgrade. Oh well, time will tell on Butch.

If you are going to compare Freeze to UT Coaches realize that you need to Compare his first 3 years to Battle, Majors, Fulmer, Kiffin, Dooley and eventually Jones. Kiffin and Dooley put UTK in a 4 year hole and everybody has stated repeatedly that we were at our lowest point ever in the past 50 years. Dooley destroyed this program.

WC's lone TD last night was because several Subs use the wrong pursuit angles to the ball. Remembering Sal flashback and Dooley trying to explain this to the media and the plays in a Geometry type explanation and never doing anything about it.

Butch looks clueless on game day and has no balls. There is a lot of talent getting wasted and I don't think he even knows what to call his offense. I like BJ but on Saturday's he isn't that good. Unless your playing WCU

Many of the 2013 kids that are gone are his kids too.

Wow, some seriously good effort at keeping the average IQ around 100 on this board. Freshman are 18 year-old kids. Occasional exceptions, but most (even 4-5 stars, and especially linemen) need a year or two to be competitive against 21-22 year olds. How this isn't self-evident is beyond me. A mature, successful program doesn't take its 2 top 5 recruiting classes in a row and try to win conference titles with a bunch of freshmen. It sticks their butts on the bench, in a strength program, with liberal use of redshirts, to learn from 4-5 stars that are now redshirt sophomores and juniors and seniors. It's been said 1000000 times - CDD didn't recruit a SINGLE OL one of his years, and if people can't understand the hole we've been in the past 3 years on the OL and how it doesn't matter if you have 10 star skill players, you aren't going anywhere without a serious OL in this league - really no hope for you. Everyone is tired of being down, but it is no excuse for stupid rants about being tired of the excuses. CBR's first recruiting class was barely his - and nobody with a brain could not see the following 2 were stellar and at an entirely different level. In 2016 that group of kids will be in their second and third years in the program, in 2017 third and fourth years - a much higher level of talent top to bottom - like what we've seen at Bama for more years than I care to remember. Bama hasn't been winning so consistently playing true freshman and sophomores. CDD took us to the Bill Battle days from a roster standpoint. CJM was never the coach some reinvent him to be, but look at how long it took him to recover somewhat from Battle.

CBJ isn't perfect and doesn't walk on water - jury definitely still out on offense and game management. But this whole "tired of the excuses" internet tough guy thing is infantile, like 2 year olds screaming I want what I want. Makes VN sometimes a hard place to lurk around.

Excuses for all, and to all a good night. At some point, you take your group and beat their group. Or you keep inventing new ways to say a previously uttered excuse.

Your group always has a chance if you are getting lucky miracle plays and their group has 5 turnovers.

I don't like Butch's offense, it's not good--and, as many others have said, he's got no rocks. You've got 4th and half a yard against Western Carolina and you kick a field goal? He made some bad decisions against OU. Nobody expects perfection but his decision-making in key situations has left something to be desired.

Freeze is a bit of an offensive guru.
Butch's offense is middle school.

Tons of questionable flaws. Shuttling WRs in and out. Which is just plain stupid when you consider that the point of tempo is to prevent the defense from subbing.
I said it when they hired him and have remained consistent, Azzani is a major liability. They have pretty much landed every WR they wanted and still cannot develop a threat in the passing game. Preston, the WR who has been the least influenced by ZA is their best threat.

The run game is OK at times but that is with two 5-star RBs. Seriously, there are SEC coaches who would kill for this roster.

We get it, you don't like Butch...
