This has been a long time coming. There has been grumblings for the Army to do this for years.

“Marine Corps Commandant Gen. David Berger has ordered all Confederate-related paraphernalia to be removed from Marine Corps installations, his spokesman confirmed on Wednesday.”

Hypothetical question. Since the US fought a war against the CSA, they would be considered an enemy, right?

Would it be acceptable to Union Jack symbols? Rising Sun? Mexican flags? Red, Black and Green flag?
This is the question that has been asked inside the Army for maybe the last 10 years as it is concern with bases named after Confederate generals.

Yeah let’s just change the names of all 10 Army bases. It’s history, regardless which side they were on they all died as war vets.
If this is about slavery, let’s not stop there. Erase everything Washington and Jefferson, that will show em.

Nah. Most of them still have slavery.
Some of the Asian countries still do. But I wonder if European countries face that societal guilt for something that happened hundreds of years ago?

CSA soldiers aren't technically the enemy anymore, at least according to the government back in the 20's.

Our Navy flies the Union Jack because its an American flag. I have seen Jolly Roger stuff on Navy aircraft and ships/boats/whatevertheyarecalled.

They really didn't bring them into Europe, just to their colonized places. I'd wager its not really even a thing for them even though they almost exclusively did all the buying, transporting, and selling of slaves.

Good. Not sure why the American military would display symbols of treason.

Which is stranger to you ... That , or watching a socialist standing in front of the American flag while running for POTUS , talking about softening our boarders, decriminalizing illegal crossings, doing away with private businesses just to replace what they were doing with government ran programs .. and you facing the fact that you may vote for him ? It’s odd , the things we think are bad vs good .

I think we all know the answer is yes. I would be most concerned about the recent policy of allowing Hijabs. No way I would turn my back on a fellow soldier wearing a rag on their head.

The same people that say the confederate flag stands for racism believe the same thing about the American flag.
I don’t. People that rep the confederate flag are generally (not all) inbred, backwardsass, racist, rednecks. I’m talking about the ones that go out of their way to wear it or display it. I don’t feel that way at all people who display the American flag.
