Probably the single thing that concerns me the most. It seems like the team comes out flat and not ready to play.

no i disagree because during the UF game they won over are mistakes and WV we had somthing going but the long delay let the o line and d line rest

Which mean they are flat and not ready to play all the time. Meaning from the time one game is over til the next one starts. Face it, as a "team" this bunch just doesn't want to do what it takes to "play". It's a shame for the guys who are butting their heads against the wall really trying.

I agree with the OP and I have likened it to a boxer coming into a fight dry and cold. Usually takes them three or four rounds to get warmed up while they lose points. They need to get fired up before they get on the field. I suspect we will see some improvement in the early stages of the Georgia game.

I seriously expect to see a better team after the beat down they took at home Saturday.. If not the year is done for them IMO

How about a bootleg on first play for a change? First 5 plays should be a pass. Loosen GA up. We will not get any push on their front 7, otherwise.

I agree. People didnt like the "desperation " calls by pruitt in the florida game, but that is what we need from the get go here. We know we are out matched, we know we cant break them down and over power them. If we could run on them i would try to slow the game down like they did the wvu game. I dont think georgias defense would allow that though. I really think we need to air it out all game long. I hate to say it, but if we throw deep alot, even if we only make a few of them they might can give us enough scores to stay in it. I know if i was coach id try throwing bombs all game long.

To Air it out would require more than the 1 sec that JG gets if he is lucky and on a good day. We no pass protection going deep is really not an option unless you just want to throw it up for grabs. Team has so many problems at every level that a real game plan is impossible to implement. The attempt at a balanced running and short passing to use up the clock and keep the ball away from Ga who probably score in less than 4 minutes in a series. Some of the high flying offenses are averaging 1.5 min per score, unreal. I look at it as another game for the players to get more experience for what that is worth. Some of the worst blocking and tackling I have ever seen, these guys like to just lean on the pile, Taylor is one of the few that pops people.

Helton needs to take some chances. Way too conservative. We can’t win now playing that way.
They’ve thrown deep.
They need to scheme to help the QB and run game. Stretch the defense to the corners to soften middle.
When you are this predictable on 1st down it’s easy to stack the middle. That’s why it’s a shock to not see play action on 1st down. If you’ve been able to bait defenses into this, then you burn them with play action.

My thoughts are Helton is not a very bright offensive mind.

I'm generally satisfied with the coaches at this point. But I agree a hundred percent with you here. We need to stretch the field and give the safety something to think about. Who knows if we can even pass protect that long though

But seriously, as long as we dont f'ing turn the ball over 6 times and we are within a td or 10 points at half im good. slow is okay with me if we burn clock and keep the game close

We dont come out slow. We are an undisciplined, unorganized, unmotivated, football team that is not even close to fundamentally sound. Coming out slow/flat is just what that looks like.

Its ho hum business as usual around the UT camp during the week. No wonder it shows up during game day.

I agree. Come out AGGRESSIVE and hit UGA in the mouth. Throw the freaking ball down the field. Put JJ in the Wildcat. Open with an on-side kick. Go for it in EVERY 4th down, etc. What the **** have we got to lose?

He needs to wrap up the carrier after the pop because he was one of probably 4 that slid right off of Scarlett on the TD run right after UT's return fumble to start 2nd half.
To answer OP, I think UT came out too tight at Neyland because of all the week long hype. On the 1st fumble the coaches played it safe keeping 7 men in to block. Between #4 and #9 on the left side,(blind), they both blocked the inside rusher, leaving the outside rusher unblocked. I know they are coached better than that. They knew how to execute the onside kick but they just didn't on that particular attempt. They'd worked on it all week. Bright lights ... big city is just too much to just throw a young man into. Lack of experience. Reminds me of a deer in the headlights....just kinda panics. UT players just need to settle down and try to play assignment football. It should get better.
