College Football Parity main issue imo

There was a point in time when the concept of a deferred payment auto loan to a college student with no credit went from pretty much prima facie evidence of a major violation to a business practice that the NCAA ignores because the car dealer says it is commercially reasonable in his opinion. There was no rule change. One day it might get you the death penalty, then photos come out of the Bama players' parking lot, and it's suddenly commercially reasonable and the dealer says he's not a booster so no harm, no foul. Maybe Bama was super innovative. Maybe someone did someone a favor. And what happened to the Bama players who were trading autographs for suits? I'm not against these sort of benefits for players but it seems like if these things are going to be green lighted the SEC and NCAA should announce ahead of time rather than creating the appearance of impropriety by waiting for a bell cow to get caught with their hand in the cookie jar and then telling the rest of us that it's fair play.

I'm not going to use the word “fair”, but cfb would definitely benefit from more parity. Every year there is only 6-7 teams out of 130 that have a legitimate shot at winning a national championship.

I would like to see some schollarship reduction. Make teams have have more actual students and prevent teams from stockpiling 5 star athletes on their bench. Bring the total more in line with baseball and basketball to the numbers actually on the field.
If Alabama can "stockpile" recruits - actually what they are doing is just recruiting better than everyone else - why can't others? In his first 3-5 years at Alabama, Saban constructed a machine. Since then, Saban is enjoying the fruits of that labor because most of the top players essentially come to him. He picks the ones he wants.

Does anybody really think Alabama out-recruits everyone else because there are people in the SEC office with Alabama ties, or Mark Emmert was the Chancellor at LSU when Saban was there?

It is getting to the point where Alabama's dominance says more about the rest of the SEC/college football at large and less about Alabama itself.

Not being cynical but we really should just start cheating better. Play a little more dirty. Indimidate and threaten officials. Pay players more. And get our state government to demand and support winning at all cost. Do that and you’ll see us challenge the big boys.

Play clean. Lose clean. It’s a horrible situation but unless CFB changes then that’s what we got.

You must be one of those Bama cheats so much folks. They do tons different then most teams. An example is actually Butch. How many major programs have former HC as low level video people? That’s what Saban figures out. We could do it too. We just don’t spend the money like they do. After Saban won his first natty at Bama he was on the phone, just a few hours after the game, demanding the university spend more on his program. They outclass us in facilities, tradition, getting guys to the nfl, and winning. Should be no surprise an excellent coach like Saban has things rolling.
Facilities...nah...tradition (maybe winning but that wasn’t until we started sucking;otherwise our fans and the game day experience is just as good as theirs)...everything else sure

Until kids want to take on a challenge and make names for themselves and not just be another "spoke in the wheel" it will stay that way.

Life isnt fair. A man of your age should know that by now.
While true, this is supposed to be amateur athletics.
College football is being ruined right before our eyes, and the Saban/Bama empire is at the center of it.

I agree it isnt good for the sport. But unless there is proven cheating going on beyond what everyone else is doing, the moaning about fairness sounds like a bunch of butt-hurt babies throwing a tantrum.
