He's a clown for wanting to exercise his 1st amendment rights?

Colin Kapernick is a HERO. A true American sports hero like Muhammad Ali. And like Ali, he won't be appreciated by white Americans until it's too late.

What Colin Kaepernick has done to sacrifice a lucrative career to stand up for the rights of black people less fortunate than him is one of the most honorable and heroic acts of the Last 50 years.

I have nothing but the utmost respect and love for my brotha Colin Kaepernick.

Colin hasn’t done anything “heroic” and to compare him to Muhammad Ali is laughable.

I hope you remember that most white Americans were against Muhammad Ali and his stance when it was happening in the 1960s. Ali only become a hero to all of America after he got Alzheimer's. When he was protesting the Vietnam War in the 1960s and a member of the Nation of Islam, only black people were in his corner. He was just as demonized by the majority of white Americans in the 1960s as Colin Kaepernick is demonized now by mostly white Americans.

Colin's stance is also in many ways MORE heroic than Ali's stance when he refused to enter the Vietnam War because of his Islamic faith. Yes, Ali put himself in danger of heading to prison as well as losing his money and ability to box. However, what Colin has done is stand up for not only himself but OTHERS. To lose his livelihood and source of income because of the opposition to police violence against the black community in America is incredibly courageous.

Standing up for ones rights is one thing. But to stand up for others and be willing to lose it all is beyond brave. Colin Kaepernick will be venerated by history the way Muhammad Ali is venerated now.

He ain’t winning crap. How does him blowing a potential tryout help him prove that the ENTIRE LEAGUE conspired against him? The Seahawks not get the memo?

Because they were going to try him out until he said he wouldn't stop kneeling. That's when they put things on hold.
He's not great, but you're kidding yourself if you don't think he's better than at least 50% of the backups in the league. He's not being signed because of his kneeling during the National Anthem, not because of his football talents. It's fascinating to me that teams will get refuse to try him out but then a guy like Greg Hardy can find a job.
It's no secret that this collusion case has a lot in common with deflategate. Apparently there's a lot that could get out that would be very bad for a lot of people. I don't know what that is, but when I see the Seahawks clearly change their stance on their interest because of his political demonstration, it makes me wonder if he's not going ot somehow pull this thing out, and successfully sue the NFL. It would have been smarter to try him out and then just tell the guy he sucks.

You’re missing the forest because of those pesky trees. An ORGANIZATION was slated to try him out and asked him that question. His answer convinced the ORGANIZATION that was going to try him out to reconsider. How is that considered a directive from the NFL? You need some good old fashion colluding to point towards. Them and the Ravens and them again last season indicate that there were no standing orders. And if they told him he “sucks” wouldn’t that be violating that “50%” conventional wisdom caveat?

He’s a clown for thinking decisions don’t have consequences. Yes.

Kaep is trash and so are his followers. His support for Castro says as much.

Stop trying to deflect and turn this into a conversation about Castro. Kaep was very clear about what he was protesting.

He was protesting police violence against black people in America.

What is wrong with that?

Racism is wrong, right? So K chooses to only care about violence towards one race. Not a good guy.

Once again stop playing dumb. You know that the majority of this country is white while black folks are a minority. The police (that are overwhelmingly white) are not targeting their own race with unfair prejudice and violence. They are targeting black people that have been stereotyped and vilified by the media in this country.

Agree with all of this. Even MLK was perceived as a troublemaker for a while, then people jumped on the bandwagon later and covered themselves with revisionist history. It'll probably happen again here.

^ probably the worst anti-Kaepernick argument I've ever seen.

"MLK/Nelson Mandela/[insert hero here] only cared about poor treatment of BLACK people. Therefore, he's a racist and not a good guy."

Absolutely nothing if he truly meant it. Where was Kaep in 2013-2014? When he was flying high? I guess police violence didnt exist then huh?

Dude its all bull****. Nothing but a stupid publicity stunt. Kaep could reach many more people on social media much faster. But he chose to be an idiot and it costed him. Stop acting like what CK did was so heroic. He was no Rosa Parks.

Lol. Wow. So I am curious, what do you think the outcry would be if a white player protested about police violence against white people?

He made it about Castro, Dumbass.

He needs to focus on the biggest problem in the black community if he wants to make a change, not police. Lol.

Probably about the same as it would be if a white person responded to MLK or Mandela by talking about how white people have it really tough.

The point you and allvol are making is that focusing primarily on one race, in any and all contexts, makes one "not a good guy." Following that dumbass logic, MLK and Mandela are "not good guys." Agree?

He gave up a lot of money to take a stand. Not sure "heroic" is the right word, but I wouldn't argue against it. He's sacrificed a lot more than most for a cause he (and many others) believe in.

Many white people have it just as hard or sometimes harder than black people. I know that fact probably pains you, but its true.

Mandela a good guy? Wow. Whatever man. I am not agreeing with allvol. My point is the hypocrisy. There seems to be this narrative that black people cannot be racist because they themselves are subject to racism. Its foolish and irrational.

Everyone knows that. The issue is that fact's usage. It's almost always only mentioned as a deflection mechanism, after someone from a minority group expresses a concern. Instead of "let's work on that" it's "let's make this about ourselves! Being white is hard too!"

Good God, why not just work on both? Everybody has problems.

In the situation where MLK is describing negative consequences for black people arising from segregation, the people responding to him with "ok, but what about white people's problems?" aren't regarded very well in hindsight, nor should they be. Allvol's criteria for what makes someone "not a good guy" is completely idiotic, which shouldn't surprise anyone.
