Also have seen that Pastner is trying to escape Memphis for Arizona State, so that would be a bit of competition for an opening.

Lavin and Bobby Hurley are listed as well for ASU - I wish Hart would get on the ball and interview Hurley before its to late - he is also on St Johns list

You talked like you were super connected to big time donors. Seems like you're backtracking some. Anyway, you probably shouldn't talk about things you don't know about. The difference between us getting rid of Bowden and you getting rid of Fulmer was that Clemson hit a home run with his replacement and UT struck out....twice, before finally pulling it together with Butch Jones. You guys let South Carolina overtake you in the SEC East....I'm just glad things will be returning to normal soon.

I said the sentiment of Purnell when I was there. He's not been there in 5 years so me keeping up with Clemson basketball post Purnell is irrelevant. And I never said big time donors or that I was connected; I said I knew lifelong season ticket holders, folks who attend sporting events on a regular basis, not the T. Boone Pickens of Clemson. Sounds like you're putting words in my mouth. Clemson fans didn't want Purnell gone? Fine none of them did. He's still an average coach at best with a 27 year track record to back it up. I don't care if he plays an exciting pressing style if the culmination is an 0-6 career tournament record.

Dabo's success just happened to coincide with the hire of Morris. Before that he was mediocre, unless you consider 19-15 good. He greatly benefits from playing in a 2 team league as well. We'll see if he's more than a Gene Chizik with Malzahn going forward.

Still not sure why you're on a UT message board discussing a topic that is irrelavnt to you. You just showed up when Cuonzo was hired, are you on Cal boards as well now that he's moved on?

Hurley could kill it at St Johns with his Jersey/NY connections. He could only recruit the metro NYC Catholic schools and assemble a solid to great team.

If Bruce Pearl comes back

1. Attendance goes up tremendously
2. Recruiting is excellent
3. NCAA Tournament every year
4. The excitement and passion of Men's basketball is back

True, true, true, and true.

Too bad some of the higher ups won't get over the fact he "burned bridges" a couple of years ago.

He would win, and I thought winning cures everything...

(Seriously, Tennessee fans would donate a ton of money to get him back, but this would be too big of a hire for Hart to accept)

A few observations in the search thus far:

1. I am surprised at some of the negative feedback on Barnes. I realize the other UT just fired him, but he has been to 16 NCAA tourneys in 17 years, which is slightly better than our current track record. He would be my 1st choice, although a lot will disagree.

2. I am also surprised at the amount of names being thrown around. Seems like more than last few searches (i.e. last year and 4 years ago). Maybe it is due to the fairly large number of high-profile openings.

3. Wojo is an interesting name. I was never a fan while he was at Duke and he only has one year of HC experience and Marq had a losing record this year, but he has a top 5 recruiting class coming in. If he can do that at Marq, then imagine what he could do with UT's resources. Not sure about his buyout, however.

4. Mid-majors - I think from recent history we still end up going this route and Underwood and Holtmann seem like 2 logical and affordable options.

5. Hurleys - they just seems like northeastern guys to me and I am not sure what kind of success they would have recruiting in the south. I would not be upset if one of them was hired, but I would not put them at the top of the list.

6. Pearl - no way this is happening and it kills me that some fans think the only way the program can be successful is with him. As long as Hart and Booger are there (and with a $5 million buyout), Pearl will not be the next HC.

7. Marshall - no way we will pay him the money it will take to lure him away from Wichita. He is staying put or will end up at the other UT or maybe Bama.

remove EVERY x-Duke player on the list and lets clean it up. Most listed do not have enough head coaching experience. With our current AD situation you get Rick Barnes because they will not pay for anything more.
