Coaching--really?

Just a few quick comments to all of you blaming our coaches for our poor performances:

1. Scott Frost has been a HC and led UCF to a 19-7 record over 2 years--going 6-7 in his first year and 13-0 in his second.
2. Frost has Nebraska at 2-6 after beginning 0-6-and playing a MUCH easier schedule than UT.

Has Frost--who is in his 3rd year as a HC--suddenly lost his knowledge and ability to coach FB?
Was Nebraska's 0-6 start all because he was just too stupid to know how to adjust and get better performances from his players?
Is Nebraska losing because Frost and his coaches are just too dumb to make proper in-game adjustments?

Of course the answer is a RESOUNDING NO to all of those questions.

Frost and crew just do not have the players to compete with other programs--YET.

DITTO for CJP and crew....

so please quit showing your absolute and unquestionable ignorance by saying that we have good enough talent on the field now to compete in the ELITE conference in all of NCAA football. Three of our five losses have come to #1, #6, and #13 teams in the nation.

It is too soon to think that COACHING is the problem--JUST ASK SCOTT FROST and NEBRASKA. At least their fans have some reasonable expectations and average football IQ.

Totally reasonable fans, those Cornhuskers.

What sports venue are you referencing...letters to the editor? Pretty sure I had access to every “everyone” you did and I didn’t get the same impression...cuz I’m pointing at results purely. He didn’t leave a significant mark at Michigan State or with the Miami Dolphins. When you find yourself making excuses for why Dantonio has been more successful in Lansing, you’re stretching too far. 😉. If you call Wikipedia sessions “research” bully for your academic acumen. Attempting to shame me for knowing the material instead of using the interwebs is a landmark...gotta admit! I’m “lazy”? How much work did you put in? Fingers sore?Don’t know how acknowledging his genius at LSU and Bama but noting his non-genius at two other stops sells “hate” to you...but maybe you want to keep that a secret.

I'll type s-l-o-w so you can comprehend.....

MSU had 19 years of perennial losing more than 50% of their games before Saban....winning 57.6% with Saban....

Saban beat Michigan when they were ranked in top 10--#7 in year 1...#3 in year 5....going 2-3 against Michigan when MSU had won 5 of the last 20....

Beating Ohio State 2 of 3 times...in Columbus when ranked #1...and when OSU was ranked 20th....

Beating ND 3 of 3 times...twice when ND was ranked....#10...and #24..

Beating Penn State 2 of 5 times....when PSU was #4...and #13....

So--you say--from your own expert memory that Saban's mark at MSU wasn't noteworthy.

But he earned a reputation for being able to take a mediocre MSU team and being able to beat some of the most well known and highly ranked programs in NCAA history when they were ranked higher than his own team. Yes....you will argue that he did lose some games that he should've won--and you would be correct.

But that is NOT what attracted LSU to recruit him as their next head coach. You in all of your glorious memory seem to forget that Saban had developed a reputation as a very good recruiter and coach who was able--more times than not---to beat teams to whom he should have lost.

That, sir, is EXACTLY the reason LSU hired him after making monumental mistakes in hiring Hallman and Dinardo. They could not afford to get it wrong anymore.

Good luck trying to convince anyone with any amount of reasonable intelligence that LSU aggressively recruited Saban to Baton Rouge because he had done nothing noteworthy in East Lansing. Here endeth the lesson.

WRONG....I wish you were right, but you are completely wrong. Nebraska has 893 career wins and 380 losses....that's 59 more wins and 3 fewer losses than us. Nebraska was crowned National Champions in 1970, '71, '94, '95, and '97. We have 1 NC since 1956.

The comparisons between our programs are completely valid and relevant. But Nebraska is historically a BETTER program than us.
And their conference was WAY better than the SEC back in the 70s all the way thru the 90s.

Nebraska's record against the SEC was 16-3-1 from 1960 thru 1999.....they are 1-5 since then...
but they still hold a 13-7 Bowl game record against SEC teams.

In other words--HISTORICALLY speaking--NEBRASKA has pretty much owned the SEC....(65% winning percentage).
I was referring to Florida state...we’re about on par with Nebraska

While I think most of this is spot on..... I don't think their conference was way better than the SEC from the 70's through the 90's..... it was Nebraska and Oklahoma..... then everybody else.... Colorado popped up for a short period but that's it.

You think Kiffin is a bad OC?
Butch is paid $30k to watch film and wash Saban's practice clothes..... not even close to being a coordinator

Being a good coordinator doesn't preclude one from being a complete train wreck as a human who gets fired before the national title game either.
