AI Overview
Yes,
Missouri Tigers head coach Eli Drinkwitz has become the betting favorite to take the Florida Gators job. This is a shift from earlier in the search when other candidates like Lane Kiffin were considered frontrunners. Drinkwitz is listed with minus odds, making him a sizable favorite according to some reports.
  • New betting favorite: Drinkwitz has emerged as the favorite, according to betting odds reported by newscentermaine.com, WLTX, and WBIR.
  • Shift from previous favorites: This is a change from earlier in the search, where Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin was considered an early favorite, note Sports Illustrated.
  • Likely reason: Drinkwitz's emergence is linked to his success with Missouri, including consecutive top-25 finishes and a strong record against SEC opponents.
  • Significant favorite: According to Sports Illustrated, he is a "sizable favorite" based on betting odds.

Should probably add North Carolina to the list

I think BB steps down at the end of the season and retires.

They have some serious cash to be a player if they wanted to

We're holding out for Venables.

Better hold out hope that Banks gets a G5 head coaching offer.

For the record, Venables or Pry would be on the top 2 wish list. I'm not crazy about a 3rd Penn State guy becoming DC here, but his head coaching experience alone at VT dealing with game management would be valuable.

You're going to think I'm insane, but I really wish Heupel would look into bringing Gundy on as an analyst or even dare I say OC after this year.

Only way I think you keep Hazle is if Aguilar decides to go down the legal route to get another year.

But we are clearly breaking in a new QB next year so do it with OC as well. Especially since Heupel is still heavy handed on playcalling himself. Having an OC who does less playcalling and more management would help with the game management issues that have plagued Heupel this year.

I don't think Gundy helps with any of our issues as an on-field coach. maybe has some value as an analyst, but I don't think he is going to move cross country for some 50k job.

I think Gundy will just be done coaching.

I don't see Gundy coaching very soon in any capacity. I think he'll count his money for a bit. Dude was a head coach for 20 years. His ego is probably too big to step down in competition or take a coordinator/analyst position.

You look at most fired head coaches that take coordinator/analysts positions, and it's almost always guys that haven't had a ton of HC experience/success.

.......or they are trumpet players who your opponents looked at as a joke. Botch had about a decade of HC experience before he became Sabans coffee fetcher. I guess technically we have to give him half Saban tree and half Kelly tree. I'm sure both of them are thrilled.

Like you, a month or so ago I didn't think Gundy would coach again for a while-if ever. I thought he would take a TV job or something.

With all the jobs open though-at this point I think he gets some sniffs just based upon the process of elimination. There are too many schools out there needing HCs who think they are ready to win now. I don't see him getting PSU or anything, but something in that UNC/Va Tech range.

Even though he played us a few times, I don't hate the guy.

Oklahoma State has been a disaster offensively the last two years. They were 107th in EPA. Why in the hell would you want Gundy as an OC? The OC has little to do with the game management. Also Heupel and Gundy run different systems, why would you hire an OC that doesn't run your system? Maybe Gundy works as an analyst or a different position but him as an OC is an awful idea.

Penn State getting out scott free from that massive buyout.

I assume he realizes that it's much easier to win in VT in the ACC than at Arky in the SEC.

I do hope they start taking football seriously. In a weird, crazy way I do think they initially thought they were making this huge move with BB. I never thought so. Hire a up and comer with a solid resume or someone coming out of a big job who needs less pressure.

They definitely have the money for it. They wasted a lot on Belichick. I hope he realizes its over and they move on. Also, they don't hire his son either.

They're marching down the path to having a Schiano Sunday-type coaching search. I still don't think any coaching search will exceed that insanity until fans on Twitter (and some state politicians) apply enough pressure to stop the hiring, but that looks like it could get wild. He also mentioned BK's buyout and how they aren't going to do that again. Sounds like they might get pressure from the Governor to go the cheap route, which I'm sure will be very popular.

If Woodward isn't even going to be allowed to hire a football coach, what is he even doing there then?
