Coaches should be fired

Not sure why people are upset. Vols are strong program, but nobody confuses them with the blue bloods. I think fringe playoff team is about the ceiling.
Historically Tennessee has been a blue blood. Go back 25 years and look at Tennessee’s and Ohio State’s programs and I think you will find that they were pretty equal. Both had 6 claimed national titles and were close on the all time wins list. Unfortunately, Tennessee went through a series of inept coaching hires and essentially fell off the face of the earth as far as college football goes. Meanwhile Ohio State went through and is still going through a very successful period in its history. Many of us were fans before the bad years, so we know what this program was and want to see it get back there again. For you to come in here and ask why we are upset and to state that Tennessee isn’t getting confused with the blue bloods is insulting.

Agreed. Bama's first series summed up our defensive problems to a T. I believe it was 3rd and about 12 from inside their own 10 yard line. We're fixing to force a 3 and out on their opening drive. UT got decent pressure. But their qb stepped to the side and threw an 8 yard pass to a TE standing about 5 yards short of the first down. Normally, that would be an acceptable play by the defense on third and 12. Problem is he was so wide open that he just turned and ran for the first down before he got touched. Our dbs are bad but our linebackers are just as bad in coverage.
Zero awareness. At some point instinct and maybe seeing that over and over.again may help you make the right decision. Apparently not with this bunch..

Listening to the "I want to be miserable " crowd. One can learn 1/2 the college football coaches in America should get the pink slip Monday morning.

We have a good team better than most, I plan to support this team for the rest of my life.
We all support the team and are VFLs (at least 90% of this board). But blindly supporting a staff that proves they cannot get the job done with sufficient number of years to prove they can will not get you any upward growth.

We all supported the team even thought we knew Dooley couldn't do it...and we needed a change
We all supported the team even though we knew Jones couldn't do it...and we needed a change
We all supported the team even thought we knew Pruitt couldn't do it...and we needed a change

Knowing that there are coaches on the staff that just cannot do it (whether it is getting talent in or coaching talent up) is not a lack of support of the team, it is knowing when a change is needed.

How soon people forget ! Banks and Dylan Sampson got us to playoffs last season!
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while....one good year and 4 bad ones do not make a great coach.

If that were the case, we should have just kept Jones...He was the first to beat UF and the last coach to beat UGA (at UGA).

Banks has to go, and Martinez. Both are inept. Some want to blame the kids for this. Who is responsible for having these kids here. Are we missing on what a sec football player is, are we not able to coach them into a quality player. Either way it’s on the coaches. This defense is horrible. No excuse after 5 years. Change has to be made
And he just got lousy after having the #6 defense in the country just last year. 🤪 Oops I guess you are correct, after all everybody beats Bama in Birmingham ;) 🤣 🤣 🤣

PS. The defense was not responsible for the 14 point swing just before the half (That was the game changer 23-7 vs 16-14 at the half), or the 2 point safety. There is 16 of the 17 point deficit at the end of the game.

Considering Ohio St is 8-14-1 vs the SEC alltime, conference schedule also has a lot to do with OSU's "success"

A lot were leaving Bama for dead after the FSU loss....They have improved a lot since that game and are much better than they were last season. IMO, they most likely win the conference. After watching us last night.....do we look improved since the season has progressed? I saw a lot of the same issues last night I've seen all season....and some I've seen for 5 years now.

We haven't had 4 bad years, he has met or exceeded expectations every year but 1

Sorry ole great sunshine pumper. Have you watched any other games this year. If you have, then you’re just plain stupid

Coaches must be responsible for excessive penalties, just work on cleaning this one area up. Don’t overtax these highly paid employees.

I still can't get over watching the linebackers run 15 yards backwards leaving the TE all alone in the middle of the field on 3rd and 2.
Or db’s 12 yards off the line on 3rd and 5. Or acting as if they’re playing flag football, sure don’t understand the concept of tackle football

Oh yeah, I’ll be watching and supporting the good guys every week. Not just when I think we have a great shot of playing for the conference crown.

I do think the play-calling HAS to improve and that Heupel needs some self reflection on some of his time management issues. Joey has been much better than I expected this season, but that pick at the goal line was brutally bad. That was his issue at App State, he put the ball in harm’s way too often sometime. But we also had some questionable calls at key times on O that won’t cut it for a team that is clearly limited on D.

Seems like going a bit more run-heavy and cutting down on the stupid pre snap penalties would help. I love Josh Heupel, so I hope he makes some changes. Criticism of the play-calls and the annoying penalties is fair though.
