The SEC is not a finesse league, it is big and physical, took Rick Barnes about 5 years to figure that out, but Heupel still thinks that gadgets, gizmos and a spread offense will still boatrace the opposition, however, looking at last night, you see how flawed that thinking really is in this conference. He's at his ceiling, White Danny will probably leave before Heupel does, but don't need to let the program to deteriorate into the bottom half of the SEC before looking at the coaching roster we have in place.

Well, Alabama lost to a 3-4 FSU team this year, lost to us, Vandy, OU and UM last year, Alabama has all the big and physical guys, right?

As much as I am bummed out about this season, I go back to just after last season ended and we lost players --some to the portal, some graduated, some to the pros, but everything I read on this forum was gloom and doom about this season. We lost our OL and many on defense. Nobody was predicting much better 8 wins. Then lo and behold JH got some players and the Nico trade went down. Seems like we're better than everyone was predicting, but that said, we have some reoccurring issues that have to be addressed to be more than an middle of the pack SEC team . Defense has to get fixed, the penalties no excuse for that, play calling, game prep lots of issues. Lot's of teams looking for a coach today, some are wandering around in the desert like we were for over a decade.

I am tired of hearing "fire the coach" instead of players playing up to their potential. Assistant coaches must be held accountable and removed if they are unable to teach and motivate and be creative. Players must be held to a high standard. It is the head coaches responsibility to put the pieces together.

This mentality blows me away too man..... It's like anything that went well for us was a fluke vs. we were ALWAYS competitive and it really took off with Shuler, Manning, Martin then things got a little light, Fulmer made some bad hires and we got impatient. I still believe we would have course corrected under Fulmer but there is zero doubt we fell off substantially after Cutcliff moved on.

Tennessee has been a program 99% of CFB would love to be. That = Blue Blood.

Recency Bias is a thing and people become insufferable when emotional I suppose...... That's why we are fanatics?

It's not that, its either trolls or the uneducated about actual college sports.

See it every year the last 20 years when they hype some average program (Va Tech, Marshall, Boise St, Utah, TCU, Mizzou, Vandy) and say OMG we are gonna lose why cant our program win games like xyz....the fact there are Vol "fans" who really believe we will lose to UK and Vandy are hilarious
