If Dobbs plays like he did Saturday and we run the same type plays, he goes 6-6. He needs a quaterback change or simply run 90% and 10% off the playaction. I would test the waters on a different qb. This hurry up and punt offense is killing our defense. Its now time to control the time of possession and play some smart football. He has to adjust his mindset and play the game with the squad he has, which is something he has failed to do throughout his entire tenure here.
My opinion -- free and worth every cent. Fire at will.
Recruiting C. Having "ranked" recruiting classes means nothing if they don't fill needs or flame out due to poor coaching.
Game Planning D-. First half results are awful. That means the game plan is awful.
Attitude C+. He says some good things but deep down I believe he's arrogant and thinks the Tennessee hillbillies don't deserve him.
Coaching D. His love affair with the read option regardless of personnel has led to failure.
Improvement C. Year over year improvement is partially due to cyclical changes in the SEC East.
Gimmicks B+. He is full of gimmicks but most have proven to be gimmicks. He gets A for effort, D for results.
Cliches A+. He does not leave a cliché on the bench. He is all over them.
Best Staff In America F. He is so low in self-esteem that he is afraid to hire quality coaches that he fears might be better than he is. Yet, he is arrogant and egotistical. It must be difficult to sleep.
Team Management C+. All the players have good shower habits and clean uniforms.
Future Incomplete. He is at a crossroads. If he does what he NEEDS to do, he might succeed. If he does what he WANTS to do, failure is a matter of time.
Flame away ... GO BIG ORANGE!
I'd say there are very (VERY) few among us who have (1) the knowledge of the nature of the college head coaching job, and (2) the insights into what's really happening in the program to even begin to grade Butch using anything other than Win-Loss record. [volfannbama sure got that right]
And those very (VERY) few people who do understand the job well enough, and have enough insider information to reach a reasonable conclusion...well, not a single one of them are talking.
Probably Doug Matthews comes closest, though he has never actually been a head coach himself, and doesn't necessarily have the best access to today's program at all levels. Anyway, if you really want to get a report card on Butch, that's your best best; listen to 104.5 in Nashville on Sunday mornings.
Short of that, just judge Butch and the coaching staff based on our Win-Loss record, like Volfannbama said.

Couldn't disagree more! Our won loss record can be very good, we only play 2 good teams all year. Based on a won loss record against bad teams you could get fooled into believing were doing ok.I'd say there are very (VERY) few among us who have (1) the knowledge of the nature of the college head coaching job, and (2) the insights into what's really happening in the program to even begin to grade Butch using anything other than Win-Loss record. You don't have to be a coach or even a former player to know that ain't the case if you have watched the games!
I have watched a lot of good football teams play good football , well coached teams,
That is not what I been seeing when I watch UT!
