Every time I come on here I tell myself just to ignore the asinine, dishonest posts, and then I see one like this.
Hooker was 3 for 6 in his first six throws, with a fumble. Bailey has had a total of 7 pass attempts this season. So Bailey was better in the extremely limited time he has gotten, even though he had to play with the 2s and Hooker was with the 1s, than Hooker was in his same number of attempts when he first got to play.
Go ahead and name all the QBs, on any level, who were brilliant in their first six throws off the bench. It never happens. Why do you think even Tom Brady always plays for a full half or more of the final preseason game, just as he did this year? Because even the best of all time needs game reps to get in the groove, and that's after he has gotten all of the first-team reps for months in practice, which Bailey has gotten none of. Brady was not the Brady we know now when he first came in for the injured Drew Bledsoe in 2001.
I really can't fathom the level of dishonesty on here of all the posters not just writing Bailey off, but claiming he isn't any good. I haven't wasted the time to look at post counts; I wonder how many of these posters are paid shills for the AD sent on here to run the spin machine. Because there's really no excuse for not giving Bailey his shot just based on how well he played last year as a true freshman with no spring practice, and further on how much better he played in spring practice this year than either Hooker or Milton has played in any game thus far.
Bailey may stink it up if he gets his shot; if that happens, by all means someone else should be playing. But trotting Milton out there last week when Hooker got injured was bad faith and dishonest, period, and anyone defending that has no interest in the truth or what's best for the football team and the fans who root for it. If Bailey plays a full game, or more realistically multiple games, and does nothing, then there's more of an argument to be made that he's not ready, doesn't have it, or whatever. But to claim he had his shot, when that shot consisted of seven pass attempts, is just dishonest, repulsively so.
