Coach JH

Not true at all. NFL is littered with qbs with less arm strength. You guys act like he can run like Lamar jackson and has Aaron Rodgers arm and Peyton Manning mind. So far he has shown the running ability of a timid Casey clauses, throwing ability of blind Trent green.

If a GM takes Milton in the first round of the NFL draft, he will be out of a job in a very short time....Late 6th rounder or a free agent somewhere.

Shy of the heisman
You should be thankful to have a coach that is willing to play the best guy rather than constantly playing the champion of practice (i.e. cornbread and Guarantano).

We aren't losing to Missouri and UK.

Also, quit with the HB love-fest. He looked terrible and slow against Tennessee Tech. There's a reason why a national champion, heisman runner-up QB, and offensive guru that we have as a head coach isn't playing him.
shy of the heisman, the same could be said about pruitt and the defense, we seen how that worked out.

I mean the kid threw for the following at Marietta , Ga HS. It would seem to me someone should be working with the kid more to see if he can transfer anywhere close to those type numbers to the college level. When you compare his stats to Milton's HS stats it's laughable. Additionally he had 3000 more passing yards than Hooker and twice as many TD's.......... But HB's a bust at Tennessee.
  • 9307 Yards
  • Passing TDs
    99
  • Passing Yards/Game
    300.2
  • Pass Completions
    625
  • Pass Attempts
    949
  • Interceptions
    21
Don't you know? All that matters is what the infallible perfect Heupel says on the subject. You know, the same guy who judged Milton to be our best QB.

HB got a shot and he was worse than the other two. He might be very good in the long run, but he was not in command of the offense and did not throw accurately. As you say, you can spin it any way you want, but it is what it is. 3 for 7, 16 yds., sack, RTG 62.1 vs. 169.4 (Hooker) and 101.7 (Milton).
Every time I come on here I tell myself just to ignore the asinine, dishonest posts, and then I see one like this.

Hooker was 3 for 6 in his first six throws, with a fumble. Bailey has had a total of 7 pass attempts this season. So Bailey was better in the extremely limited time he has gotten, even though he had to play with the 2s and Hooker was with the 1s, than Hooker was in his same number of attempts when he first got to play.

Go ahead and name all the QBs, on any level, who were brilliant in their first six throws off the bench. It never happens. Why do you think even Tom Brady always plays for a full half or more of the final preseason game, just as he did this year? Because even the best of all time needs game reps to get in the groove, and that's after he has gotten all of the first-team reps for months in practice, which Bailey has gotten none of. Brady was not the Brady we know now when he first came in for the injured Drew Bledsoe in 2001.

I really can't fathom the level of dishonesty on here of all the posters not just writing Bailey off, but claiming he isn't any good. I haven't wasted the time to look at post counts; I wonder how many of these posters are paid shills for the AD sent on here to run the spin machine. Because there's really no excuse for not giving Bailey his shot just based on how well he played last year as a true freshman with no spring practice, and further on how much better he played in spring practice this year than either Hooker or Milton has played in any game thus far.

Bailey may stink it up if he gets his shot; if that happens, by all means someone else should be playing. But trotting Milton out there last week when Hooker got injured was bad faith and dishonest, period, and anyone defending that has no interest in the truth or what's best for the football team and the fans who root for it. If Bailey plays a full game, or more realistically multiple games, and does nothing, then there's more of an argument to be made that he's not ready, doesn't have it, or whatever. But to claim he had his shot, when that shot consisted of seven pass attempts, is just dishonest, repulsively so.

Coming out of high school, Bailey had offers from Bama, Auburn, UF, UGA, Oklahoma, LSU, Texas A&M, Michigan, and Ohio State, among many others. Milton, out of high school, had offers from Michigan, UGA, and UF; the next-best school on his list after those three is Minnesota. Hooker, out of high school, had offers from Oregon, Clemson, and Notre Dame; after that his next-best offer is from West Virginia.

Bailey was not slightly but drastically more wanted out of high school than either of these other two. But of course all those coaches for all those playoff teams and almost-playoff teams know nothing compared to the immaculate and infallible Josh Heupel, because guys on here that wouldn't know a football if it were impaled in their chest said so.

I’m guessing you can’t, I was referring to the fact that we should trust the coach because of his past accolades and pointed out how well that worked out for us.
I must admit, it is hard to understand incoherent drivel.

This will be a very unpopular thread.

Hooker was a Pruitt recruit not CJH. They (CJH) went after Milton and we have seen how that turned out.The kid is a train wreck and there was a reason Michigan didn't play the kid. If CJH evaluation says the kid can play or he could change him but his starting QB is now hooker speaks volumes about his evaluation for talent. I'm not about morale victories and a 24 point beat down by UF isn't anything to feel good about. You can spin it anyway you want but it is what is. After we drop games to Missouri and UK we'll talk.

Our defense is the bright spot of the team and that's out of CJH's hands. We don't have the personal to run as CJH wants to run and it's already showing. I hope I'm wrong but as of now I just don't see it. He has a very accurate QB he won't play because he can't run and how can you watch film when he runs with the 2's and 3.s in a game. For those that said HB was against the scrubs in the OW didn't watch. He ran with 1's and played against the 1's. But we'll see this kid transfer and it will haunt us but this post isn't about that but he's playing a Pruitt recruit instead of his guy.

I hope I'm wrong but we will be lucky to get to 6-6. Head tells me 5-7. And we'll see the love fest for CJH after that.

Hmmmm
So wasnt HB a Pruitt guy/recruit also? If so how is play Hooker a mark against CJH but playing Bailey wouldnt be?

Nevertheless, im sure you are far more in tune with what a good qb is than say...someone who actually does know and has a track record to back it up.

That is true...but im an optimist. I always hope a new thread will be amazing...im getting used to disappointing.
😁
If your a true vol fan, you should be used to disappointment by now. I know I am. Between the vols and my kids I pretty much have disappointment down pat

bailey committed to TN. He’s proven that by not transferring at the first chance he had. I don’t know hooker or miltons story, but I do know we were at minimal their second choice, maybe third or fourth and their second and third didn’t offer them. I think that’s were some of the disconnect is with the fan base. Also we know what we saw last year, and it was better than what we have seen this year and it’s irritating that the qb “guru” couldn’t make him shine better.

HB's offer list included Missouri. Heupel was the named recruiter. I don't know what is up with HB, but Heupel definitely wanted him at one time.

I was pro Bailey since I heard about him in HS and that he was interested in UT from an early age. I thought he was going to be our Trevor Lawrence and am disappointed and have accepted the fact he is not that caliber player. You should take the blinders off. The sooner you accept this the better off you will be. Just shrug it off, life goes on.

I make no bones about HB being my choice but Hooker has the reins and while we are winning I'm behind him. Was never behind Milton but have always been a Bailey fan and will not apologize for that but the blinders are OFF. It's apparent that if both Hooker and Milton don't get hurt HB won't see the field and if he does it won't be with the 1st team. But I'll enjoy this win for what it is but this doesn't mean anything except Missouri was horrible and their defense is terrible.

I will say this, I'm starting to like this staff the more I've seen but I'm still not convinced but if we can do this to good team...... then I'll eat crow (with BBQ sauce) and own up for my take of CJH as I said I hope I'm wrong. I will say this Tim Banks has our Defense playing lights out a huge bright spot.

60+ points always means something. Had only been done three times prior in SEC play. And as bad as Missouri supposedly is, they managed to stay within 7 of Kentucky, the same margin as Florida.

Get a fully year of learning CJH's system (& CTB's) plus a full scholarship roster, and let's see where we are next year.
