Coach Fulmer to get raise/extension (Hamilton after the game)

That would be great. They are beat up pretty bad and they got to have a hangover. We seem to be getting them at the right time.

call me crazy, but I don't buy into the fired up LSU theory either. They are as beat up as we are, just lost their shot at a NC, have a head coach who has one foot in Ann Arbor and a DC who has one foot in Lincoln, NE. We have a coach who wants to prove doubters like me wrong. Oddly enough, I have a good feeling about this.

Tennessee hasn't "backed in" to anything. Everybody plays eight conference games. The only team in the East to navigate that schedule with a record as good as Tennessee's lost to the Vols head to head. Tennessee won the East. Period.
Hail Yeah!!!!

Fulmer does it again! He rallies his inner circle of big $ guys and waves that magic WTNY wand and the big boys jump. If Hamilton had any guts and/or brains, he would keep his mouth shut. What if UT lost against UK? Hamilton would still declare a raise/extension as directed by big $ fatcats. He's no AD, he's a mouthpiece! Oh yea, FPF is one of those fatcats in more ways than one! A raise/extension? Bullcrap!!! He is an underacheiving coach with history on his side. The thing about history is, it was in the past, and so is FPF as a coach. You orange blooded suckers that CWTNY, we have heard that for the last ten years.

I'm thinking WTNY = wait til next year

A question: How much of Fulmer's "bringing the Vols back from the dead" so to speak was precipitated by the fans who were on his case most of the season?

Tenn. has played its way into the SECCG. If GA were going, that would be backing in. When you get in by winning the games you need to win, that's earning your way in.

Lets worry more about winning the SECCG instead of how we got there. Just get over it.

No, it wouldn't. Being the only East team with 2 losses isn't backing in. Backing in would maybe be if UT decided they didn't feel like going and let UGA go instead.

Kindly "define backing in" for me. I must have it wrong.

I can't really think of a situation for backing in. You either have the best conference record or you don't. If we had lost, how would Georgia have backed in? Finishing first doesn't mean you backed in. Fortunately, UT won so it is a moot point.

So at least we agree that UT didn't back in.

Muchas Gracias.

Controlling your own destiny and winning out is not backing in. Needing to root for kentucky may of been.

GO VOLS! Cannot wait for saturday...

No, it wouldn't have been. There is no backing in at all IMO. You either have the best conference record or you don't.

Well said my vol friend !! I was in the Smokies when the Vols were playing Florida. Everybody wanted Fulmer's head, 2 games into the season? I told them the whole season was ahead and to have a little bit of faith in a top notch legendary national program. I live in KY and take alot of heat for being a vol fan. I admit, the vols defense has baffled me at times this season, but, I'm not ready to hang the whole team and coaching staff out to dry just yet.

I am happy that we are in the championship game, and think we have a great shot of beating LSU, but Fulmer does not deserve a raise or contract extension for just merely getting there when we are only there because Florida dropped the ball. This is still the year that we got hammered by Florida 59-20, Alabama 41-17, nearly hammered by California, almost lost to Vandy, and gave up huge halftime leads to Kentucky and South Carolina. We played two games of really good football...Georgia and Arkansas.

We haven't won the SEC championship game yet. We still haven't won the SEC in nearly 10 years and haven't been to a BCS bowl in an eternity. Wait until after the SECCG and bowl game to consider the raise and contract extension.

It's never a good thing when boosters run your program. I know it's a fact of life, but I wish there could be some objectivity in decision-making on the the hill.

Great quote and dead-on.

Well this is just my opnion but the way i see it.. fulmer should not get a raise unless we win the S.E.C. and the Sugar Bowl. I mean just a few short weeks ago most of the VOL NATION was asking for his head on a silver platter. I never was 1 on firing fulmer cause anytime there is a coaching change it will hurt thats yrs recruiting. Plus i feel fulmer has earned the benefit of the doubt. But as a lifelong VOLS fan. I also remember we lost to fla 59-20, lost to bama 41-17. my point on that is lately, when we lose. we lose big. I dont think that deserves a raise or an extension. I believe for fulmer his raise should be earned. As a average working joe, we dont get raise's if our work is so-so, therefor neither should phil. I understand with everyone coming back next yr, we are loaded. with the addition of morley being back on the team that will only help. So like i said, the University of Tennessee should wait and see what happins over the next month to decide if he should be awarded a pay raise and a contract extension. Please respond cause im interested in what everyone thinks and has to say bout this post.

What if you outperform 10 of the 12 "Working Joes" in your company?

"Outperform"?

GA...you're smarter than that. Is that the term you would use for the SC win? How about Vandy? How, pray tell, did CPF "outperform" the Vandy kicker? And what about the UK game?

"Outperform" is not the term I would use for those three games. Maybe "outlast".

See, those "heart attack" games can go either way. In 2005, they went against us. In 2007, they went for us.

That's the difference between 5-6 and 9-3.

Nothing has changed. I'm still a Vol fan, and this coaching staff is still wayyyyyyyyy overrated.

go vols.

In this, of all seasons, my response to those questions is . . . You are what your record says you are.
