Coach deserves one more year to right the wrong !

There are a lot of super young coaches who are doing more with less talent then him. With all his resources, no national championships.
I think he is a very fine coach, but he seems to have lost some fire and there has been a recruiting drop off.

At first I was ready to fire her but one year is not fair . I also think sone players are harder to coach . It seems like the non discipline was inherited . Anyways give her at least one more year maybe two get her players in here. Go Vols!
This mentality is why we will never see the Lady Vol’s resemble the dominant teams of the past. Our fanbase has been whitewashed into thinking 16-14 is ok.

I concur that coaching was a problem this year with team as a whole; just don't know why Zee would prosper one year and flounder the next with the same coach/system which she professed to be very happy with last year.

yea, something happened this year. this wasn’t the same spearman from last year

I think almost all of us have been around Tennessee sports long enough to know that coaches NEVER turn it around when they start like this. Giving her an extra year isn't going to end up better than it did for Derek Dooley.

But final fours …. he rubs me wrong but honestly if he’d come i’d take him. He would also uphold some value to being a LV and gets on his players in a productive manner that they actually correct their mistakes. Novel concept around here i know lol

There are only three coaches winning national titles in this sport: Geno, Dawn, and Mulkey. The goal at this point is get back to the Final 4 for the first time in almost 20 years.

They can retain her as many years as they like not going to workout cause she thinks her bench can play half the game and compete against the top teams top five players while hers sits on the bench half the game. She thinks her man to man defense and all out pressing is going to work in the SEC and it has been proven that it does not.
The freedom to shoot anytime you want anywhere you want is the dominant killer as much as anything. Spearman a 23 percent three point shooter taking shot after shot out there. The much improved Robertson so Kim says making 1 of ten. It is all a disaster we can go with it as long as AD desires still going to be the same disaster if we do it forever.
Someone who knows the game should be advising Danny White and/or the decision makers regarding this. I like basketball, but I do not know the game. Surely, retaining her another season isn’t the answer if the system is the problem.

Are these brain washers also part of the great ref conspiracy?

Anyway, what a random fan posts on this board had absolutely zilch to do with whether the LVs return to their glory days. It comes to decisions by the AD and deep pocket NIL.

I was a Kim supporter until the end of this year and especially last night. No, it's not because we lost...
I got tired of her antics starting with throwing the ladies under the bus and then not shaking hands with the Ole Miss coach. I think she acts like a spoiled brat.
What sealed it for me was her press conference last night. When she said she had a plan A, but messed up and went to a plan B. Then said she should only have a plan A and stick with it.
Every coach at any level knows that you have to make adjustments to a game flow. She tried the pressing all year and teams had it figured out ..
I say move on

On the flip side of that, it’s also why no coach will ever be good enough here. Feels like we collectively want Pat Summit type teams and that’s just not realistic anymore.

Keeping her means losing a few on staff. Either Lazo, Tubner or both will elsewhere next year. It’s how the game works for a coach getting the extra year, get out before forced out if an opportunity comes.
Wouldn't bother me if they or any of the staff leave. It looked like they and the top female assistant were doing most of the in-game coaching, working the time-outs, and substitutions and we all see the results. Worst Lady Vol team and effort I have witnessed, and I have been around the program since mid 70s. If they leave, I hope CKC is in the car when they load the family truckster.

April 1 is a Wednesday. If she's out, there should be a new staff under a MOU by Sunday the 5th. If AD can't make that happen, then he may be the problem. Every AD should have a "hot list" ready to go at all times. A coaching search longer than 10 days is incompetent.
Do you think Caldwell was on AD White's "Hot List" when he fired Kellie? If CKC was on the list, I very much question his ability to form such lists.

I know this statement has become a kind of mantra. But this team has finished 8-8 in the SEC two years in a row, just got clocked in the opening round of the NCAA, is the first LV team in history with no wins in March and this season was the lowest winning % in program history (the 16 wins also ties a program worst).

So saying that we would like the team to be better than this historic worst season ever is far cry from demanding a peak Coach Summitt level of achievement.

The wheels have fallen off; the engine has blown and the interior is on fire. Can we do something to make this better? Oh look at you, demanding a brand new Lamborghini!

Kim Caldwell is under contract through 2030. She’s here next season. Best to hope that she adjusts her system to best utilize the players on the team. If she’s not building the program during the next four years, White may pull the trigger if he sees a proven coach wanting the Tennessee job.

I’m happy to give her one more as well. Then she can have her walking papers.

I think she’s tough, and if she could turn it around it would be fun to watch.

This season was a disaster of epic proportions though.
I have said all year “give her another year” but I have changed my mind! With the portal it will be a rebuilding year every year.

I think if we start firing coache's after 1 year, the line is going to get awful short of coaches who would want to take that job.

The contract expiration date is a meaningless number. All that matters is the buy-out clause, which is the actual "cost" of coaching change. On the bright side. UTAD saved the 75K bonus CKC would have earned for making the S16 and the 400K (plus pay raise) for winning a national championship. So, that is over 500K saved that could be put toward the buyout.. It is like having a 10% off coupon!!!

If I am correct, her buyout would go from $4 million to $2 million after April 1. Certainly a big chunk of change but not a prohibitive cost.

Why not? That’s a “stay stuck in mediocrity” .. all the administration has to do is commit to winning and they can absolutely have Pat Summit type teams again. Aka (LSU)
