Coach Caldwell Presser today

I don’t care about being fired up against Missouri, show up fired up against Texas, and I’ll take it seriously.

Two things can be true at the same time. 😁 Problem is Kim & her team has made this into a must win and if this team has a pulse to get through the rest of this season or those losses to start February just put them out of their misery. I hate that Mizzou will be the tell tale on us but it feels that way.

I don’t think she has a good enough team to fix it.
That is exactly where I stand. They may loaf some when they get behind, but they got themselves there and it is easy to get there when you can't finish layups, hit threes or guard somebody. I think this team was highly overrated pre-season they just are a hard team to coach they do nothing well. Defense or offense.

This one we have to win. We could play out butts off and still lose to Texas they are clearly a superior team to us. All we have going is the home crowd and arena and somehow that will relate to us being lucky enough to shoot the ball well enough and defend to have a chance at games end.

You summed up my late teens and early 20s 🤣

Talent wise I'd say (JMO) we are about 5 to 7 in the SEC according to whether we are playing at home or not and we play all in top 7 on the road but Vanderbilt and Texas. We just need to finish strong and maybe steal one where we are underdogs.

Because it is harder to get to the rim if you don't have consistent three point shooters. We can't keep defenses honest cause no one can shoot well enough for a full game to make it happen. Kim and coaches goofed up the portal. There were players that we should've went hard for that went to other schools. Namely Louisville and Texas Tech and Ole Miss.

I have a problem with her saying she runs an “effort based system” as if every coach in the country doesn’t run that. The difference is that good coaches have well-run offense sets too (I.e UConn or the old ND teams) while simultaneously coaching effort. KC is not special for having an effort based system, every coach in the world thinks players should play hard. What that really means is that we have noting to fall back on when we aren’t turning the other team over and scoring easy baskets. Her idea of an effort based system means get steals and scores so that you don’t have to play in the half-court. This simply does not work against top teams. In top 10 matchups, it’s more often about out executing your opponent because both teams generally always play hard.

I wish someone would have asked if she is considering making adjustments to her system to try to get the best out of this group of players.
OK, but if you watch the games, clearly the system has been adjusted last year to this year. I’m not sure all the adjustments have been favorable, but they’ve definitely been made

USA Today newspaper ran this article today, has anyone else seen it? It’s a bit harsh imo, but the LV brand is still so strong nationally that papers like USA Today, the NY Times, Washington Post and several others still routinely write articles on not just UConn but also UT more than any other teams. Anyway, be prepared to grit your teeth…

There is never a time to loaf, especially after a turnover. Get your ass back and defend. We all heard what your favorite coach (Geno) said about body language.

All I can say is she’s in her second year and she deserves more time to get the players she needs. Next year or the next if it’s worse than now it will time to. With this freshman class and the 2 coming in plus the portal I think things will change.

Thanks for sharing. One of the more brutal assessments of the current program.

Hopefully Kim is reading.

From the article:

“Is Caldwell already on the hot seat?

No, but her seat's likely, at the very least, starting to boil.”

Great advertising.

Mostly a click bait article.

Despite the title, the writer clearly states that No, CKC is not on the hot seat. And "Free fall" is way too dramatic for a team 7-2 in the SEC. Aside from those overstatements, the article is mainly reiterating what is being said on this board.

Her post-SC press conference was a titanic-level PR disaster. Getting blown out by ranked teams might be a sign that the system is not working. And things need to improve or else more questions will be ask.

Very inaccurate and misleading writing from the author of this story!!

Water boils at 212F and that is pretty darned hot. So, if CKC's seat is "not hot," then it is also not "starting to boil."

Her seat could be warming. Water also evaporates at any temperature above freezing, so technically her seat could be evaporating.

If we assume her seat was cold when she took the job, it might be starting to melt at this point.

She mentioned its from the top down and starts with the Coach
Thanks, that's a good sign and something that needs to continue. Hopefully the South Carolina post-game mess was a learning experience.

Dawn was right, some things you just don't say publicly.
