Ugh…Or the freshmen will be joined by some more quality HS and transfers that will continue to strive to implement her systems, with limited adjustments. They do need to toughen up and not emulate the character of the NEGA elements in our fanbase when hit in the mouth. Some tests coming up, win or lose, will let everyone know if they CAN step up and fight back. Doubt any of them had experience in being jobbed and handled it poorly. We will find out if we have leaders and if the rest will follow when reactions are needed.
Getting down by 19 equals bad, real bad. Fighting back to cut it to one possession is good, but not good enough. No moral victories, but tough loss is better than bad loss. Several ladies stepped up, unlike a couple of previous games.Ugh…![]()
The problem is the players have demonstrated they can play the game of basketball very well. The other problem is, the players have not demonstrated they are willing to, consistently, give the effort needed to win the games. They have not been willing to to play “smart “ basketball.A presser with CKC is like the pressers that Chris Koclanes of the Dallas Wings had last year. Basically, saying the same things game after game, not saying anything that they can fix but just repeating the same thing over and over again. At least Koclanes was positive, but Kim is always negative about what they are doing wrong. Sorry, but why would she be still talking about energy, not playing good defense, not adhering to the scout. She doesn't ever say what she can do to fix, and you know why? Because she doesn't know how to. Some D1 athletes have big egos which as coaches have to reign in to accomplish what she expects on the court. I'm sorry, but this team is really screwed up. Once the ball is thrown up, does anyone know what the plan is. It seems that the team in the first quarter has no resemblance to the team in the fourth quarter. I think the players are taking over late in the game if it is out of hand, and that is the biggest problem.
Probably because they’re getting subbed out every 2 mins or less right when their shooting starts to get hot. That’s not smart basketballThe problem is the players have demonstrated they can play the game of basketball very well. I like most of the FR girls but I think her style needs more team first players who are hungry to prove they belong imho. Kids who have been overlooked and have chips on their shoulders. Last years team, with arguably less talent, played harder, better defense, and definitely shared the ball more. They were wanting to prove they belonged and were motivated by pride. We will look back on this era someday and think fondly of a young KC that was just put in a spot where she was destined to be a short experiment. I really like her but just don't think what she wants to do will ever work against the highest level of coaches and athletes. Maybe she just needs 10 of the "right" players to make it work, but that's a tough ask in this day when rosters and player attitudes change like the weather in TN. When her time is up, this will be more about DW's gamble than it will be KC.
I've said before KC would probably do much better with her system with average players over McD All-Americans.I like most of the FR girls but I think her style needs more team first players who are hungry to prove they belong imho. They also need better half court offense vs Zone & Man. The dribble drive doesnt work well against teams with equal talent and size if you arent willing to drive & KICK to open shooters. Their shooting % is bad because they take bad shots. She’s gonna have to move on from her friend who seems to call most of the offensive sets.
Not true we seen her average players get blasted in the NCAA tourney vs VA Tech without their best player.I've said before KC would probably do much better with her system with average players over McD All-Americans.
That team last year played much better with a lot less talent. Not true we seen her average players get blasted in the NCAA tourney vs VA Tech without their best player.
The system isn’t going to work at the Power 5 level.
We lost in the sweet 16 bc of the press. The press gave Texas easy baskets all night. Texas last year struggled to score in the half court.
All last year ppl were saying wait till she gets her players…so what’s next?
