Clay Travis

I doubt that he WM really thought Mack Brown was leaving, but none of us will ever know for sure why he turned us down. Another way to put my point is this, since Colorado State can peel a proven coordinator off Bama it absolutely can be credibly argued that the Colorado State job is better (more appealing to potential head coaches) right now than the UTK job was in late 2009. The only question is whether Dooley has done enough to improve the program, coupled with an end to NCAA investigations, so that we could've hired Jim McElwain last week if we had a vacancy. If the answer is no, then you have to figure out where Colorado State ranks and then stick the Vols somewhere behind them.

You have got to be kidding.

As much as I hate ND they should be way higher. Pick your schedule, ridiculous fan base, special Bcs rules, you are the flagship school of catholicism.no one can touch that.

Oregons ties with Nike help their ranking dramatically. 16th is about right considering what this program has went through the last 5-7 years. UNC is a little high as well as UGA, but overall not a bad list.

This is just a filler piece that CT can post before the holidays. It wil lget a bunch of hits because its a list. ignore him.

If we were winning we'd be a lot higher than 16. In the 90s most people would have put us firmly in the top 10. Alabama under Shula definitely wouldn't have been ranked this high, now that they are winning its easy to see they are a great program. If we were winning it would work the same way. Also TN might not have a lot of great in-state recruits but UT has more recruits within driving distance than a lot of power schools.

It's a simple question. Would McElawain have quit his job at Bama for head coach at UTK? If not, Colordao State is the better job by at least one objective standard.

With a very obvious answer to anyone with a brain.

I bet you think we got turned down by Malzahn, too.

The only problem with the driving distance argument is that we're getting out recruited by someone in just about every point of the compass within that radius. To recruit the kinds of players that it's going to take to put us back on top of the SEC we're going to have to open up the checkbook and hire a big name coach who can bring in a top flight recruiting staff. The question is how do you make a top 5 tier coach want to come to a #16, or worse, program. The answer is money, lots and lots of money. It's up to the AD to decide if they're really all-in for football or if UTK is just going to be another hanger on sucking at the hind tit of the SEC.

Oregon, NC and Miami higher than Tennessee?....all the marinating of Franklin's johnson must have finally caught up with him and created an electrolyte imbalance in his brain. NC has no tradition of winning at all.....Oregon is a gimmicky johnny come lately program with uni's good for nothing other than wiping one's azz amd while Miami has a history of championships their fan base is pathetic

Said Franklin is a better coach & vandy has a better staff than Dooley & Tenn.

Caller called in & ripped Will for just sitting there & not disagreeing with Travis.

Thoughts?
