Its hard to run an offense when your QB nutts up... Hell U can have the best OC in the world but when your QB is playing sporadic its hard to do things...

all he has to do is roll-oit and throw to the flat run toss sweeps

We had the Defense sucking thier guts out, and let them back in it

Anyone else think Clawson's play calling was terrible? We had entire drives where we abondoned the run when we had been gaining 5 or 6 yards a play. The G-Gun was run at inopportunine moments and left out of situations where it could have won the game (think overtime). The offense as a whole wasn't prepared, the play calling stunk, and the execution was terrible.....Anyone care to comment? I know this game was a shocker, but can we recover? Should we resign ourselves to 4th in the East? All I can say is thank god we have two weeks before Florida...because the way we played today makes last year look wonderful........My diatribe is over now...I'm now going to bed to cry myself to sleep....

He knows more about offensive football than I could ever hope to, but was it just me or did we run a crazy amount of bunch sets and tight formations?

Agreed. We are were the superior team in everyway. We just got flat out coached. Why in the hell do you go away from the run when you are smashing there faces with it? pass on 3rd and 2, 3rd and 4, 3rd and 3? I don't think I have ever been more frustrated with the Vols than I am right this moment.:crazy:

1. bad playcalling on second and short (i.e.; medium range passes) instead of running it and picking up a rather easy first down, milking the clock, moving the chains, and wearing down UCLA's defense

2. defensive playcalling; after picking off 4 passes IN THE FIRST HALF, secondary inexplicably seemed to play softer and with more cushion in the second half

Play Calling I didn't have a problem with and as a matter of fact I thought it was pretty solid. Execution was definitely a big factor in the loss tonight. Crompton isn't the savior a lot of people thought he would be. In fact I think Ainge would have done better under Clawson than Cromp has at this point. We will see come UAB whether or not Cromp can do what is needed or not.
