Classless...period

. You are correct. The spot was poor but it was still short of the first down. One yard short or one inch short doesn’t matter. If he had extended the ball with his right hand instead of having the ball at his hip, it probably would have been a first down.
I think with the contact and the momentum it was all he could do to hold on. Don’t think he could extend. Sucks but it’s a game of inches. Wouldn’t be shocked if you go back a few plays on the drive and those extra inches are there on some bad spots we didn’t even notice.

Why do we need 20 threads on the front page about the same negative topic? Seems like attention deficit disorder or certain people need to feel important.

It was classless…it was trashy…it was cowardly…and it was dangerous. There is no excuse for such cowardly and reckless behavior. And it was, at some level, premeditated. Who brings a golf ball to a football game?

Mad? Wanna fight? March down front; hop the wall; and issue your challenge. You will serve as a warning to others of the same mind, and rightfully so.

Unfortunately, the image of UT and the fan base are both tarnished, and it will take a long time for it to fade. And there will be a stiff price to pay for the actions of a relative few.

Personally, I am both embarrassed and disgusted. We’re better than that. Or so I thought.

Go Vols.

No kidding, I mean I have the need to feel important but I try solving that within the threads. I guess I am still sad a lot and have been eating too much, maybe the thread people have it figured out?

I’m sure Sankey will punish us and rightfully so. No excuse for what happened. But again, I understand why it happened. Corral and other players taunting the crowd all night, strip sack TD taken away, the ridiculous stream of fake injuries (coached by Kiffin), etc. Add that to a number of drunks and thousands of fans that despise Kiffin and it’s not surprising to me. The spot (which I believe was correct) touched off the powder keg. Personally it’s one reason why I stopped going to games. Can’t put up with the immature rubes and rednecks in the stands anymore. Over the last 10 years, it has gotten worse.

I don't disagree with the why. However, taunting fans, our boys do it too, so that part doesn't fly with me. Now, regarding not going to games anymore, I'm with you, though my reasons are a bit more expanded. Number one, as you said, immature rubes and rednecks, except I sort of like rednecks, respect them, actually. I don't like anybody who is a bigot and insists on acting like an A-hole. Number two, for me, too many bipedal whales who take away too much space on the seats. Now, the funny thing is, it's not much that they take up the space, but the arrogant, smirking attitude they exhibit knowing they are making your Neyland experience uncomfortable, so I guess it's their attitude more than their size. Number three, folks pooh-pooh me, but I anticipate with so many people having open and conceal carry arms, it's only a matter of time before some drunk or sober jackass goes Bama or use some type of drone attack at Neyland. Number three, I'm becoming more and more addicted to watching games streamed to my big TV, while eating usually game meat dinners and drinking whatever I want without selling my wife and soul for a beverage.

The mob is fickle.
This will soon be forgotten. We’re not the first to have fans pitch a fit this year. I doubt anyone can tell us who they were without googling it

Im not excusing those select number of fans. They should be arrested and barred from UT. But let’s not act like this hasn’t happened in every other league.

Oh look.

Ole Miss fans shower court with trash after controversial last-second loss to No. 7 Tennessee
I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT CARE WHAT OTHER "FANS" DO!!!!!!!!!!!! They can deal with their own TRASH! I anly care about how much damage this will do to the positive vibe that has built around the job the CJH has done to this point. I will use a often used analogy. Is murdering someone justified because others have done it? Is vehicular homicide by a drunk driver justified because it happens every day? I am using over the top examples because I am a passionate fan of my Alma Mater and I am furious at anyone who tries to justify the idiotic actions from last night in ANY way!

I forgot about the whales. Anybody over 250 pounds should be required to buy two seats. 🙂

I don’t think the spot was correct. I don’t think he quite made the first, but it was closer than they marked it. Feels like we are averaging being placed about eight inches shy of actual forward progress all year. Doesn’t help that there was no ref anywhere in the vicinity of the line to gain and they basically guessed.
The spot was further back than it should have been. One yard or one inch short it doesn't matter on that play. the replays showed that the ball was at his hips and he landed short. That was one of the few decisions by the official crew that is justifiable. There were plenty of other examples of poor officiating during the game.

Do you condone the fan action during the coaching search? You are over reacting about what happened at the game. This did zero to hurt the program and actually may help in recruiting. It shows that after 2 decades of irrelevancy the fanbase still cares about this program. You pearl clutching fans are just as bad as the idiots throwing stuff on the field. This is no big deal.

My bad, I was reading to quickly and thought you were asking about other fan bases.
It is OK. I will never accept this type of behavior from people who claim to be fans of my alma mater. It sickens me to think they have the audacity to call themselves such.
