CJH: "Staff In Place By Monday"

DW is going to have to adjust to a larger program, larger market, larger fanbase. It seems like his initial few days instilled in him a dislike for the fans and media, and he will need both to build the football program back to relevance.

I think he will 'get it' in time, but meanwhile the process of him learning on the job is a bit painful. The staff assembly is but a symptom of that. He and JH are losing a chance at a steady roll out of new coaches, with each getting the fans a bit more positive about next season. I'm not sure of the 'big reveal' will be as impactful as a series of smaller reveals, and the irritation he is causing the fans as a result.

Time will tell.

I don’t think it’s as easy as promote Steele. I think he doesn’t want to be here unless he is the coach.
mid we coins have hired Steele as head coach for $450k a year, I’d say he’ll yes. Then spend $8 million on two top shelf coordinators.

Then why did he agree to come here in the 1st place? He was hired to be a position coach and nothing more.

Don’t think so. I think Steele was hired to be the head coach. I think Fulmer knew Pruitt was done and hired Steele and told him he would likely get the HC job once JP was fired.

No way Steele takes a step down to come here.

I think he came here with the intent at being the next HC for Tennessee. I think Fulmer knew that Pruitt was toast and brought Steele in with an "agreement" that he would roll into the HC job. What Fulmer didn't realize is that he would be fired as well leaving Steele with an uncertain future.

I think all the hires are done on the offense, just waiting for DC announcement which then ends up with the rest of D staff

He’s already here. He forfeits $900 k if he refuses any kind of job offer...even as an analyst.

Steele is getting paid a buyout from Auburn and is friendly with Fulmer. It's way more plausible that he was content with pulling a big check from Auburn while taking a positional coaching gig at his alma mater that was being offered by his buddy until something better opened up somewhere else.

If Fulmer thought it was likely Pruitt would be fired, he'd have to also realize his job was in jeopardy too. Take off your tinfoil hat.

Ditto for you too.

In what world would Fulmer believe Pruitt was toast but his job was safe?

You realize that follows you around don't you? Most people care about their reputation.
Yes and you know trying to stabbing your previous head coach in the back does too. Also he’s close to retirement. Look I hope he’s on staff somewhere but I don’t think he really wants to be.

Just because a HC gets fired doesn’t mean an AD does as well. Plenty of HCs get fired while the AD that hired them stays. How can you not understand this??

That's pure conjecture. And if it were true, do you think any other school would be trying to hire him right now?
