CJH replacement

I think Kingsbury would meet our appearance and personal grooming standards. I hear he’s also not a gum chewer.
See that’s one Vol Nation could really get behind. It’s important that all these grown men here be very physically attracted to their coach. When they lay in bed at night looking at their pictures of their dream boat coaches it is clear that Heupel isn’t who they pictured.

The 45-19 means nothing. We are 9th place in the sec in year 5, just got embarrassed by a traditional bottom feeder in the conference. We aren’t even the best team in the great state of Tennessee. This is NOT because we lost 2 of our best defenders We haven’t been prepared to play winning football all year, except absolute inferior opponents. It’s all about timing. Some would say we held onto the man who finished 152-52 here for too long, but somehow 45-19 is worthy of guaranteed employment. That which must be done inevitably, must be done immediately
When 152-52 (+ a National Championship) wasn't good enough, we ended up with 73-75. Be careful what you wish for.

When was the last time UT went 45-19 or better over a 5 year period?

You don't want to answer after being asked 3 different times. I'll give you the answer - it was with Fulmer, which proves my original point to you.

Have a great day!
I have two better questions for you, since you want to bring up Fulmer. When did Fulmer get blown out by Vanderbilt? Never. When is the last time we won a national championship. 1998. When is the last time we had a national championship coach inherit a quality team from a decent coach. 1992 (Fulmer inherited the team from Majors). This would be precisely that. AGAIN, I am all for retaining Huepel, IF he can make some changes. Regardless, passing on Kiffin was a bad decision. Kiffin has that IT factor. He beat Heupel, has a better record, has beaten Georgia, and has posted a one loss season. And now he is going to destroy people at LSU. If Heupel won't up his game, we might be served by finding someone else. Key may NOT be the answer, but I am not sure who is better if Heupel bolts for PSU. Apparently, he isn't leaving and Newsweek has dipped to click-bait.

I don't think most of VN want to fire him just yet. I know they want him to
fire a bunch of assistants. I want him to stay, but only if he makes some major changes.

I think he is a good thing. He is assembling the team he needs. He needs some maturation, To turn on him at this stage over the transition that he has performed is foolish and weak

Fire CJH?? Really? College Football is not what it used to be with the NIL. Not to state the obvious. Saban left because of it. Most teams are now left with the portal or writing fat checks to get the type and caliber of players required for said “system”. Fat checks don’t make players good. When players can up and leave basically anytime they want, it just feeds the cycle.

Tennessee played this season most weekends like their checks just deposited in their accounts and it wasn’t just us. These guys are out there playing like they are the NFL.

Until CJH can maintain consistency in the roster rather than have to scramble for players every year it’s going to be like this. Like a pay to win video game. We need an entirely new defense, new QB, Def Cord, Safeties, etc. We also played the youngest roster in the league this year. Let’s see what he does to fix it before we start the fire talk.

Wrong. Kiffin has a better record than Huepel and has gone 11-1 in a stronger conference. Tennessee is a stronger brand than Ole Miss. He would not leave twice.
Kiffin has not accomplished anything Heupel hasn’t. And CJH doesn’t have the baggage or predatory behavior of harassing and sleeping with co eds

Its doubtful that any coach makes a move before National Signing Day on 3 December. Doubtful that CJH goes to Penn State. Auburn hiring Golesh certainly will hurt the VOLS recruiting now too.

I don’t think Heupel should be fired but it’s 100% been a frustrating season and it culminated by losing to a school that bragged all offseason about how they were going to run Tennessee and they blew us off our own field in the second half, on offense and defense. And it would be one thing if it was just that one game but the team has been uneven, undisciplined and frankly at times outplayed and out coached. The defensive staff needs to be retooled and we need to raid the portal for good experienced players.

Just shut the football program down. People are too reactionary to have anything. Fire the coach after a 8 win season after a 10 win season?! People really do have broken brains. Critical thinking skills are lacking. Look no further than the Titans.
If you follow the NFL, you don’t have critical thinking skills. That **** is staged.

Lot of folks here talking about CJH being out of his depth and needing to be replaced. I'm mixed about it. I can't say I actually support it. I recognize where we were and where he's taken us. I have to appreciate that. I also recognize that this season was driven by 2 things, the QB switch and the implosion of our defense.
I think that the question we have to ask , "if not him, who?" I don't have a good answer. The coaching carousel is a mess right now. No one is going to win. Who would he be replaced with in say......2 years? Almost every hot new coach that gets hired into the big leagues fails horribly. Kirby is the only one in recent history that has been a good hire. I look across the football landscape and I see dozens of highly sought after coaches that have failed to live up to the hype. Honestly, CJH has been on the upside of the curve. how do you swap him out for a winner? I don't see a path forward unless he gets stolen out from under us. If that happens, who would we hire that the other schools don't pick up first? I also think that the grumbling will feed into the situation getting worse. Missing recruits because of coaching uncertainty and such.
If CJH did leave, there is only one name Danny White should call. He said he would love to coach in the SEC. And i think White would hire him. Jon Gruden. lol

Long time vol fan here. College football has changed so much it’s unrecognizable. I appreciate what Heupel has done here and what he did it with. One thing to remember: his offense was always a little gimmicky. I’ve lived long enough to remember all the schemes that have come and gone. Remember the wishbone? Totally unstoppable when introduced. Same thing for the veer, then run and shoot, ect. It always takes a few years but defense always eventually figures it out and comes up with a solution. For Heupel’s offense, it was having somebody lay on the ground after every 2plays or so. Now schemes have caught on. Vandy totally outcoached us. Having 8guys at the line of scrimmage stopped us every time. We couldn’t figure out who was coming and always checked to either a run up the middle or a quick pass (which they knew was all we could do because we couldn’t protect well enough to go long). Run was stuffed, quick pass gained a yard or 2. Great scheme. The point is,the offense has to adapt. Personally, I think Heupel is a great mind and will do it. Now the defense, that‘s about Jimmy and Joes. I still like an attacking defense much better than watching the old school, bend but don’t break, junk. It’s an exciting brand of football to watch. Also, Vanderbilt played grad students and seniors against our freshmen and sophomores. And they just wanted it more. We’ll learn from it. GBO

Has this been posted already?

Edit to add I believe that may be a troll account. I can’t find anything on the guy. It’s so hard to know what’s real and what’s not anymore.

I’ve always liked CJH but the last few weeks have been dismal, save the win vs a crap Florida team. It’s almost like he doesn’t care what happens anymore. No coaching effort in second halfs, etc. it’s gotten old. Something needs to change
Ok, let's say we fire him, or he leaves for greener pastures, what happens to our current recruiting class which is dang good. They decommit and follow CJH. Current players hit the portal. Do we really want to start all over? Remember, we're 1 year removed from playing in the CF Playoffs.
