See that’s one Vol Nation could really get behind. It’s important that all these grown men here be very physically attracted to their coach. When they lay in bed at night looking at their pictures of their dream boat coaches it is clear that Heupel isn’t who they pictured.I think Kingsbury would meet our appearance and personal grooming standards. I hear he’s also not a gum chewer.
When 152-52 (+ a National Championship) wasn't good enough, we ended up with 73-75. Be careful what you wish for.The 45-19 means nothing. We are 9th place in the sec in year 5, just got embarrassed by a traditional bottom feeder in the conference. We aren’t even the best team in the great state of Tennessee. This is NOT because we lost 2 of our best defenders We haven’t been prepared to play winning football all year, except absolute inferior opponents. It’s all about timing. Some would say we held onto the man who finished 152-52 here for too long, but somehow 45-19 is worthy of guaranteed employment. That which must be done inevitably, must be done immediately
I have two better questions for you, since you want to bring up Fulmer. When did Fulmer get blown out by Vanderbilt? Never. When is the last time we won a national championship. 1998. When is the last time we had a national championship coach inherit a quality team from a decent coach. 1992 (Fulmer inherited the team from Majors). This would be precisely that. AGAIN, I am all for retaining Huepel, IF he can make some changes. Regardless, passing on Kiffin was a bad decision. Kiffin has that IT factor. He beat Heupel, has a better record, has beaten Georgia, and has posted a one loss season. And now he is going to destroy people at LSU. If Heupel won't up his game, we might be served by finding someone else. Key may NOT be the answer, but I am not sure who is better if Heupel bolts for PSU. Apparently, he isn't leaving and Newsweek has dipped to click-bait.When was the last time UT went 45-19 or better over a 5 year period?
You don't want to answer after being asked 3 different times. I'll give you the answer - it was with Fulmer, which proves my original point to you.
Have a great day!
Kiffin has not accomplished anything Heupel hasn’t. And CJH doesn’t have the baggage or predatory behavior of harassing and sleeping with co edsWrong. Kiffin has a better record than Huepel and has gone 11-1 in a stronger conference. Tennessee is a stronger brand than Ole Miss. He would not leave twice.
If you follow the NFL, you don’t have critical thinking skills. That **** is staged.Just shut the football program down. People are too reactionary to have anything. Fire the coach after a 8 win season after a 10 win season?! People really do have broken brains. Critical thinking skills are lacking. Look no further than the Titans.
If CJH did leave, there is only one name Danny White should call. He said he would love to coach in the SEC. And i think White would hire him. Jon Gruden. lolLot of folks here talking about CJH being out of his depth and needing to be replaced. I'm mixed about it. I can't say I actually support it. I recognize where we were and where he's taken us. I have to appreciate that. I also recognize that this season was driven by 2 things, the QB switch and the implosion of our defense.
I think that the question we have to ask , "if not him, who?" I don't have a good answer. The coaching carousel is a mess right now. No one is going to win. Who would he be replaced with in say......2 years? Almost every hot new coach that gets hired into the big leagues fails horribly. Kirby is the only one in recent history that has been a good hire. I look across the football landscape and I see dozens of highly sought after coaches that have failed to live up to the hype. Honestly, CJH has been on the upside of the curve. how do you swap him out for a winner? I don't see a path forward unless he gets stolen out from under us. If that happens, who would we hire that the other schools don't pick up first? I also think that the grumbling will feed into the situation getting worse. Missing recruits because of coaching uncertainty and such.
Ok, let's say we fire him, or he leaves for greener pastures, what happens to our current recruiting class which is dang good. They decommit and follow CJH. Current players hit the portal. Do we really want to start all over? Remember, we're 1 year removed from playing in the CF Playoffs.I’ve always liked CJH but the last few weeks have been dismal, save the win vs a crap Florida team. It’s almost like he doesn’t care what happens anymore. No coaching effort in second halfs, etc. it’s gotten old. Something needs to change
