A random Facebook post popped up so, I decided to google to see if there was fire to the smoke: College Football Playoff Coach With $37.5M Buyout Put On Hot Seat
I know his second year seemed the best so far but, how can it be said he’s on the hot seat after the last several coaches that we have had?

Did not know his buyout is that much: Josh Heupel has top 15 salary among college football head coaches
I’m thinking this is his yearly salary times the years on his contract. Anyone think either is too much or too long?
Yeah!! Fire him right now! 11:14 EST today! Get out of here! Don’t take your things. Will send you an extra 50 K. Adios, arrivederci!

Please football gods take us back to a five and seven.

You do understand we are still under a handicap on number of scoils we can have? I understand it has nothing to do with the quality of recruit but I think he is scrambling to get players that can produce now. With the changes that have come with NIL and "pay" his recruiting has had to adjust toward kids who need to be developed. (won't be a very good transfer player to be lost) High ranked players will leave in a minute if things don't suit. (i.e. that QB whoever he was) That leaves him scrambling to maintain the type guys to play the type game he wants.
And how are those two things mutually exclusive? Doesn't it stand to reason that the higher ranked the recruit is, the more ready they should be to produce now?

I have a better chance of being hired to replace CJH than he does of being fired for lack of success.

He would literally have to do something inappropriate/illegal to get fired in 2025 or 2026.

He's going to have to be a better game day coach if we are going to win any big games. When the AR DC publicly states we are an easy offense to defend, that is a pretty scathing indictment. It's probably why we had so many scoreless quarters. Clark Lee won games by shaking up his playbook and getting innovative with less talent on the field. This year will be Heupels biggest challenge after losing Nico. If we see more of the same I would say his seat is going to heat up
You're right, he hasn't won any big games here. I sure wish he would learn how.

This board straight up thirsts for negativity. I mean you see a ‘random Facebook post’ and make an attempt to try to tie in a coach that wasn’t mentioned at all. You tried to find something to worry about. Why would you put yourself through that? Why would you plant a poisonous seed in the forum? Come on man. It’s a beautiful day today go for a walk. Get some vitamin D or something.

Stop believing everything you see on facebook. CJH is no where near the hot seat.

He's not on the hot seat. Nowhere close. He's done a far better job than anyone else in a long time. Anyone turning up heat on Josh this year is a fool who doesn't understand what it takes to get there. In my opinion.
We have a lot of fools--too many to count.

Social media is the bottom layer of news because 95% of what is posted there is just trash. This is a great example. Any fool can and does post fictional information at all hours of each day.

All but a few coaches at programs with real expectations who have been at their current spot 4 years or more are a bad year away from the hot seat or already on it. But Heupel isn’t on any hot seat. If he had a disaster season, he could be on it next year, but he probably has one of the coolest seats of any coach with no championships and 4+ years on the job.

Joe Klatt goes SPLAT.
This is the second thing recently Klatt has put out on Tennessee, Tennessee's "fumbling" of the Nico situation being the other... when everyone, but EVERYONE knows Tennessee played a solid hand and sent him packing. Can't take a guy seriously that throws the dumbest take out there that's an obvious effort to just stir a pot.

Hot seat? Nope. But if this season goes like I fear it might, it way get a bit warm. I hope not. I like Heupel's personality, he seems genuine, he strikes me as ethical and honest, and frankly I have no desire for ANOTHER coaching search.

That said, I am always amazed with fans who point to lack of depth and roster mismanagement as reasons why a coach should get a pass on a particular year, when it is LITERALLY the coach's JOB to manage the roster and plan for depth.

It's as if the coach has become a 3rd party fan, who will watch with the rest of us and hope for the best. And there are fans who seem willing to give coaches (not just Heupel) that excuse. "Well, he deserves a pass this year, after all he is really working with a depleted roster...." blah blah blah.

Heupel has been "OK" recruiting wise, but that isn't enough to get Tennessee where we want to be. Add to the "OK"-ness significant lack of movement in the portal, and Heupel is not helping himself any. For those who state "there was no one in the portal we wanted", I point to Barnes, Vitello, etc who CREATE portal opportunities. The other day, Basilio was discussing that Barnes signs kids who enter the portal with a 'do not contact' tab in place. How? Just maybe he has created the portal opportunity in the first place? Just spitballin' here.

IMHO, Heupel needs to create his own opportunities, let a few best-est buddies seek opportunity elsewhere, upgrade his recruiting staff, and act with urgency.

I’m not saying you’re wrong but Heupel was promised by white a certain window of time to fix things. Heupel probably extended the same line of thinking to a lot of assistants and coordinators that have come on board with him. Like you I do think it’s time for assessment each year to see if people are pulling their weight. There were a lot of inherent disadvantages when Heup arrived though like the ncaa investigations, sanctions, etc.

Y'all remember them Superman movies with the fortress made of ice?

Yeah, that's about as warm as Heupels seat is right now.

We paying a top 10 level coach for top 10 results.

Like others have said though, if things go sideways and next, especially with the QB situation it might get a bit warm.
