Heh.When was the last time tOSU, Clemson, Bama, or Ga lost due to a field goal?
You have to score TDs to beat good teams.
How many points have bama and lsu scored since then?Heh.
I mean, I agree with you. TDs are certainly better than FGs.
But your question immediately made me think of the Bama-LSU game that ended 9-6 a few years back. Remember that one? Good defensive game.
I'm hoping our game this weekend against UGa goes kinda down that same road. Defensive. Low-scoring. Team with the fewest mistakes wins.
Because our lads are showing great discipline and control so far this year. I think that's our key advantage over the Dawgs.
Go Vols!
Brother, I didn't want to debate with you. I thought we were mostly agreeing. How many points have bama and lsu scored since then?
Wee little Nicky does not even know his FG kickers name.
Current rules favor the offense, you are not likely to beat a good team with 6 or 7 FGs. With time about to expire, yes you kick a FG if it will win. During the game, I'm not so sure.
Well, sure. Each team gets only so many offensive possessions in a game.
It takes three possessions that end with a FG to beat one possession with a TD and PAT.
The team that has the best ratio of possessions to touchdowns usually wins.
Good teams have high percentages.
Suppose the game is 28-27 UGA with 3 seconds left....Cimaglia lines up for a 39 yard FG attempt to win. How confident do you feel???? That's what I thought. Both of his misses have sailed wide left… Could be it’s some hitch in his technique that he’ll have to refine. Perhaps the awkward off-season and lack of practice time has allowed it to surface.
Could also be nothing. It’s still only two misses after all.
Why are you coming at me? Nowhere did I say or imply that there’s no cause for concern, just merely stated potential reasons for his misses.Suppose the game is 28-27 UGA with 3 seconds left....Cimaglia lines up for a 39 yard FG attempt to win. How confident do you feel???? That's what I thought.
Georgia lost to South Carolina last year after Hot Rod missed a very makeable kick in OT. Granted, it should have never come to that, but OT continues if he made the kick. @VFL-82-JP outlined the issues Alabama had with kicking last year which made differences in the outcome of their 2 losses. When was the last time tOSU, Clemson, Bama, or Ga lost due to a field goal?

Hot Rod's Kid kicking this year? He was a Bulldog longer than JG will be a Vol.Georgia lost to South Carolina last year after Hot Rod missed a very makeable kick in OT. You're dead right that it takes TDs to beat good teams, but most teams face a situation at least once a year where they need their kicker to make a big kick for them. Do you want to have a game come down to a kick? No, but it is probably going to happen at some point, especially against good competition.
