I live in Sumner County and have enjoyed a few blends from our local tobacco shop. I have also purchased from Country Squire and Straus Tobacco in Florence, KY who has a blend called Sleepy Hollow that is great when you can get it. I've not tried Quiet Nights or Plum Pudding but will at some point. Much like you I find I like the non-aromatics more than aromatics and I really enjoy latakia in the blend. I think you will enjoy Early Morning Pipe as I think it is similar to Quiet Nights. I think the best word to describe perique is spicy, but it seems to tone down a straight Virginia, I like a Va/Per more than a straight Virgina. So far, in my new journey into the culture, I have bought Quiet Nights, Autumn Evenings, and a house blend at the local B&M that I believe is ref Virginia based. Early Morning Pipe and Plum Pudding are on my to-do list. I was pleasantly surprised how much I like the Latakia forward Quiet Nights. I was one of the assumed that I would only care for aromatics. So far, I think I love the house blend the best. They sell about 7 pounds a week of it for good reason. How would you desribe perique?
Next week I am going to start smoking some Christmas blends that I bought. Looking forward to the season. I have a few Christmas pipes that I'll only smoke between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day.
