What’s the strength of these? Strong middle is becoming the floor for my taste level. Loved the Cohiba Blacks I ordered by the way…need a bigger size. Learning that when ordering. For a cheaper cigar, the Caldwell Blind Man’s Bluff Maduro is a good Monday winddown imo. Some of the other in that brand aren’t necessarily garbage, but I’m ordering five more of these next paycheck.

Enjoying a rare round Oliva V Melanio. Essentially, it’s a Melanio deemed not right for box pressing, a second. This was part of overproduction purchased by CigarPage and sold for pennies on the dollar. The ones shipped to me were drier than the Atacama Desert. Six weeks in the humiTUB, and this one’s fit for smoking with a little Greenbrier Tennessee whiskey.

Always need the education. Take a lot of tips from that guy. Since I got my Zippo, I’ve veered away from “toasting” my stogies. I do the barbarian inhale as I light. 👹

Sometimes I toast, sometimes not. Depends on the wind lol. Hey with the zippo, they have a torch insert - Walmart torch insert

Also, even if you are quick to get it going, remember to do an unlit draw a time or two to get those flavors in. Easy to forget in the rush

R and J are definitely going to be mild and creamy, like any connecticut would be. Not all connys are "grassy" though. And I do like a nice grassy stick in the summer sun, with some lemonade or a mountain dew. Or light scotch.

Blind man's bluff is the best of Caldwell IMO.

Get yourself an Oliva V and you will never look back ;)

I’ve learned to take your recommendations as gold. 👏

These round Oliva V Melanios were a risk that I was willing to take at $3/stick for a bundle of 20. They have reconditioned nicely after a few weeks in the humiTUB. I’m enjoying them. Burn and flavor profile are true.

My wife knows I’m fancying a smoke when she hears me rustling in the man-cave opening and closing the humidors. Scoping out my selection. I love a Sumatra wrapper and rub it across my nose before the event. The pre-smoking ritual is almost as enjoyable. I ordered the Oliva V double Toro Maduro last night. Any reason why it was cheaper than the other sizes?

That is going to some big puff. As to why cheaper than a diff size, the websites have diff specials and not everyone loves the fatties. It is also a different mix to have a gordo over a robusto because the filler / wrapper ratio does change the flavor a bit. I have had that one though and it is def FULL flavor (but only mid-full strength). YUMMY. Give yourself plenty of time though. Likely a 2 hr stick.

Hope they fit! 😅 I have some time to empty one of my humidors. Guess I should have just done regular toros. They seem stronger than anything I’ve previously ordered…Cept maybe the Chiba Blacks.

Maybe the fat ring size impacted the flavor of the Raymond Pages sampler (5x60), but many of their robustos are 5x54, and I’ve not noticed much of a difference in flavor profiles for the ones I’ve ordered.

Nicaragua American Cigars S.A. is a factory in Esteli that makes cigars for several brands. Periodically, CigarPage buys the overproduction and/or seconds from various factories in Esteli and offers these at deep discounts. These are unlabeled. My order of a 10-pack of NACSA overproduction at $2.35/stick arrived last night - 5x56 naturals. I’m smoking one this morning. First, these arrived in perfect condition, no need to rehab them in the humiTUB as with my prior purchase of round Oliva V melanios. Strong and spicy at first lighting, this cigar quickly smooths out - earthy, bready, with hints of leather and dark roast coffee accompanying the now muted spiciness. A tasty medium bodied smoke.
