As Chiropractor of 19 years with many years of working with athletes, the ACL wouldn't be involved. Most ACL injuries occur with anterior translation of the tibia. In this case, with hyper extension the tibia moves posterior. PCL definitely involved with MCL and LCL. A problem is the medial miniscus is tightly attached to the MCL which means probable miniscus damage also. The lateral miniscus is loosely attached which means less chance of damage. Significant injury requiring a minimum of one year of healing after surgery. That would be best case scenario. Now if the tears are minor he could recover faster.
