Chris Petersen thread (merged)

I wouldn't pay much attention to the puppies. They wet themselves anytime things go good for more than 6 weeks. All the 16 year old gangsters come out of the woodwork telling all the hillbillies what's up. Nobody's told them that real hoodrats don't fight in the mini mart parking lots. Silly kids.

by my use of the word "perused." I'll try to use a simpler word just for you next time.

The definition of perused has nothing to do with what I'm commenting on. You make it sound like you expect the local paper to report on what is really nothing at this point.

A team who would totally demolish us in a game

We just posted a winless in the SEC season culminated with a blowout loss at Neyland by the Candy Commodores and the previous poster is tossing insults at the Huskies?!?!? GMAFB we're the laughingstock of the SEC if not all of college football until this gets turned around IMO.

^ This guy gets it. Vol fans should bite their tongue. Until we get a good coach, fans from other fanbases can throw stones all they want. We have no defense at the moment. The program is at a historic all-time low.

What's funny is Washington was where we are currently until Petersen resurrected them. They were really good under Don James, but after James retired they had 2 decades of mediocrity (1993-2013), sort of like UT. Then they hired Petersen who started in 2014 and he quickly turned the program around. Their program could slide back into mediocrity if Petersen were to leave, while UT's could quickly resurrect with a Petersen-type hire.

Negative. Sarkisian was Washington’s coach before Petersen. They were nowhere near as low as we had now.

2010 7-6
2011 7-6
2012 7-6
2013 9-4
2014 Christ Petersen first year.

With that said, i want Petersen. But we won’t get him.

Excluding this season that is nearly identical to Tennessee 2013-2016

God it’s like a waking nightmare.. over and over.. never in my life I would see Tennessee football like this.. now I know what it’s like to feel like Memphis back in the day..

Well, we were 9-4 our previous 2 seasons, so this is the first season of our total collapse. But I am talking about the last 2 decades as a composite, which could have good seasons sprinkled in here and there, such as we saw the last few years of the Fulmer era. Willingham was at UW the 4 years prior to Sark and went 11-37, so they were a very erratic program during those 2 decades.

Seems like 4 years of Butch. Or three seasons of his second. Got out before that 5th b****. :)

They were pretty damn good in the 90’s and turn of the century. They had losing seasons 04-09. That’s it.

They were mediocre following James. Jim Lambright followed James for 6 seasons. He had one 9 win season and an 8 win season, the other four were 7 win (3) and 6 win (1) seasons.

Neuheisel was there for the next 4 seasons and had the one good 11 win season and an 8 win season, with two 7 win seasons in his first and last years. So no HC was ever able to have any sustained success there between James and Petersen.

OTOH, Fulmer had the 11 win season in 2001, and three 10 win seasons after that, but had several bad seasons scattered among those seasons. And other than Butch's two 9 win seasons, 7 wins has been our max post-Fulmer. So yeah, I see definite similarities, with the glaring exception being UW has already found the guy who could resurrect their program.

I’m still holding out hope it’s Petersen. He/his reps reached out to UT few weeks ago. John Currie met with his people earlier this week.

Yes he wants out at Washington. There has been some dissension between he and the AD. He’s complained about lack of passion there and comittment to football. He has stated his complaints about be the late games no one gets to see. He’s not happy i personally believe he’s interested and I’m hopinh he’s the guy!
He's goinh to UF if he leaves
