FORDMAN posted on page 10 of the Who's Still bring Considered for HC thread. I saw about Patterson. Hoping Currie has Petersen or Jimbo up his sleeve, preparing to see Durkin, Schiano, or Norvell. I think they buyout is too huge for Campbell. Personally, I would rather have Les or Sumlin than any of those three.

Plus Peterson could get away with recruiting 3* all day..considering he knows how to coach.

Not if the goal is to challenge Bama. Gary Pinkel did well in a very weak East developing 3* talent, but he couldn't beat the top SEC West teams. Beliema could developb3*s and win the B1G, but he lost his job trying to compete in the West. Petersen would definitely need to recruit at a high level to survive at UT.

If It turns out that Gruden actually assisted in recruiting Petersen to Knoxville, it would keep Vol Nation’s love for Gruden strong without him taking the job himself. I could see Gruden liking that scenario.

Also, people need to remember that Petersen is no stranger to recruiting outside his own backyard. There aren’t a lot of 5 stars (or even 3 stars) in Idaho, and even at UW his best players were coming from Los Angeles, NorCal, and Hawaii. With the right people that know the territory of the Southeast (like Austin Thomas) I expect he’d do just fine recruiting at Tennessee.

Cost of living in Knoxville is 41% lower than Seattle per NerdWallet’s online calculator. If you paid Petersen the same salary he’s getting from UW at Tennessee it would be like getting a nearly $2 million raise. And I’m sure they are prepared to raise his UW salary.
