Chris Petersen thread (merged)

Don't know if he'd move east or leave his current job, but Petersen is as good a coach as any university/fan base could ask for.

As someone who lives in Seattle I don't see this happening. Peterson is definitely happy at UW and he rejected UT before. He is frustrated with the start times, but I personally think a lot of that was just a clever attempt to get everyone talking about UW. He is a west coast guy, is already paid over $4M, and has a massive buyout... wouldn't make sense for him to leave

Thought the buy out was 1.4 or 1.6, UTK uses $100,000 bills to wipe.

If he was interested the money would be at the bottom of the worry list. His buyout is not that large and his salary would definitely get a bump.

His buyout is $1.5 million, that’s chump change compared to most other coaches.

He has a special needs child and that’s why he wanted to stay in the Northwest. It was something to do with its care, don’t remember what exactly. I would be shocked but happy.

Someone here told me whatever his son was going through is no longer the issue it was. He is suppose to no longer be a special needs child and is now a grown man that might go to the doctor for regular followup every so often. Don't know if that is the truth, just passing on what someone said to me.

I had assumed the same as you, but he has been at the top of my board for the past 4 searches. If his son's future needs can be taken care of here, maybe UT hospital can bring his medical team on staff.

But if he is willing to hear his pitch, I hope that plane Currie uses has fuel to get to Seattle. Please let this happen.

It's sad and embarrassing that we were paying Butch Jones more money than what Peterson is making smh.

I say we double his salary and make him the 3rd highest paid coach in the country and give him 8-mil a year.

I can definitely get behind this guy. Also believe this is one of a very small handful of coaches out there that could pull the fan-base together.

His buyout drops to 1.5m once the regular season is over. We could easily double his salary.

He was never on my list because I always thought he was more unrealistic than Gruden or Patterson, but if he has even the slightest interest in talking to UT (and Gruden says no), then Currie should be on him until he either says yes or gets a restraining order.

Had no idea this guy would have interest in UT, we should def make a run at him. Very easily one of the top 5 coaches in college right now
