actually you have hit on the reason that Peterson is not about to leave the West Coast. He is really big into Scientology and the Bible Belt is just not the place where he could fit in.
Ever been to Washington? The Cascades are on a whole different level than the smokies. As I said in a previous thread......I think you MAKE him turn you down. UT has a school of medicine that should be an incentive to come here. If he likes the mountains, we have the Smokies. If anything, Knoxville probably has a much better climate than Washington. Would he come? I don't know. But in my opinion, he's the first and second one on my list.
Make him say "no".
Jeesh! Your answer in and of itself clearly denotes a fundamental reason a lot of coaches won't/wouldn't consider moving to Knoxville. It's not based upon UT as an institution of learning. UT's a good school ('Not just stating that because I'm an alumnus). The athletics department...particularly our fabled football program...is the monetary and facility equal of the finest setups in the nation. Saturday game-day fans' enthusiasm and a litany of great traditions, plus our magnificent Neyland Stadium, are the envy of all but a handful of other storied programs when the Vols are down, and virtually unequaled when they're winning lots of games. All of that's a great lure for any coach. Now, with a stable of elite-level talented young men in all classes and having held onto one coach for at least four years, what could discourage a coach from the great northwest from wanting to move his wife and kids to Knoxville? It's closed-minded, politically sated yahoos like you; mouthy hicks who consider anybody from cultures other than yours aren't worthy of your much over-rated self aggrandizement. The west coast is a great place. I've lived all over this country and, let me tell you, there's good and bad wherever you go. Since politics don't rule my life, I don't care who's liberal or conservative, my view of the great northwest has allowed me to see an awesome culture of a wonderful variety of people, living in a majestically beautiful part of the world. Also, folks (like you) in the south have lots of natural beauty all about, as well...just too many angry bigots running around. All schools have negative Nancies, but I've never witnessed a higher percentage of negas claiming to be UT fans anywhere else I've followed their programs...and that's been all over the USA.Liberal cesspool would be mine![]()
Personally I don't think some coaches want the hassle of the competition week in and week out in the SEC.
Want to know how to coach winning football? Here's your chance to take notes. Petersen is probably not a realistic option for Tennessee, but I want someone like him
