Chris Petersen is losing his patience with the Pac 12

Petersen is at his dream job. He is not leaving the Pacific Northwest ever. This is widely known.

He doesn’t want to leave the Pacific Northwest? Then why did he interview for the USC job in November 2013?

124-26 record. He's the 2nd best coach in college football imo. I think Dabo would take a step back without Venables.

Peterson has a sick child who stays in hospital in Washington (Seattle I think). If I was looking for a head coach though I'd back the truck up and give him everything he wanted.

His son hasn’t had health issues since 2013.

actually you have hit on the reason that Peterson is not about to leave the West Coast. He is really big into Scientology and the Bible Belt is just not the place where he could fit in.

There is a Chris Peterson (with an 'o') who is a Scientologist. Here is how you tell the difference between the two- Peterson the Scientologist died in 2012 and Petersen the football coach didn't.

As I said in a previous thread......I think you MAKE him turn you down. UT has a school of medicine that should be an incentive to come here. If he likes the mountains, we have the Smokies. If anything, Knoxville probably has a much better climate than Washington. Would he come? I don't know. But in my opinion, he's the first and second one on my list.
Make him say "no".
Ever been to Washington? The Cascades are on a whole different level than the smokies.

Liberal cesspool would be mine :)
Jeesh! Your answer in and of itself clearly denotes a fundamental reason a lot of coaches won't/wouldn't consider moving to Knoxville. It's not based upon UT as an institution of learning. UT's a good school ('Not just stating that because I'm an alumnus). The athletics department...particularly our fabled football program...is the monetary and facility equal of the finest setups in the nation. Saturday game-day fans' enthusiasm and a litany of great traditions, plus our magnificent Neyland Stadium, are the envy of all but a handful of other storied programs when the Vols are down, and virtually unequaled when they're winning lots of games. All of that's a great lure for any coach. Now, with a stable of elite-level talented young men in all classes and having held onto one coach for at least four years, what could discourage a coach from the great northwest from wanting to move his wife and kids to Knoxville? It's closed-minded, politically sated yahoos like you; mouthy hicks who consider anybody from cultures other than yours aren't worthy of your much over-rated self aggrandizement. The west coast is a great place. I've lived all over this country and, let me tell you, there's good and bad wherever you go. Since politics don't rule my life, I don't care who's liberal or conservative, my view of the great northwest has allowed me to see an awesome culture of a wonderful variety of people, living in a majestically beautiful part of the world. Also, folks (like you) in the south have lots of natural beauty all about, as well...just too many angry bigots running around. All schools have negative Nancies, but I've never witnessed a higher percentage of negas claiming to be UT fans anywhere else I've followed their programs...and that's been all over the USA.

RE: UT's new coach. I stated last week that if and when the wheels were clearly falling off this program, then I'd go along with replacing Butch Jones. The onus is all on the AD to move quickly to both wind up with a good recruiting class and to snag a bona-fide winner of a coach. Peterson? No way he's coming to Knoxville. I wish-wish-wish he would, but that's highly doubtful. Chip Kelly or Gary Patterson? Splash hires who...either one of them...would be great acquisitions...GREAT hires. Gruden? Iffy but worth it. I'd hire him. Brown? 'Not really sold. 'Could wind up with a lower ceiling than we'd like. My fave? Bob Stoops. Laughing? He's what? 57? LOL! I've got a decade over him and not near as healthy, so I'm telling ya' He's got lots of good years ahead (ref. Steve Spurrier). Bob Stoops knows how to beat SEC schools (Ask Saban). He's one of the best developers of NFL talent and is a game-time CEO master. If (VERY big if) Coach Stoops would come to Knoxville, then he should be paid appropriately. To save recruits, fire Butch before SCjr comes into town, give Brady Hoke the IHC job while going after the big boys and prepared to go 6 million-or-so. Let's have one signed and headed to Knoxville before Christmas. As always. GBO!

My favorite but if I'm not mistaken he was approached last time and wasn't interested

There weren't many takers when Butch came along but the cupboard isn't bare this time around and things have been on the up until Butch and Co pooped the bed this year.

Neal Brown from Troy would be my pick for next coach but there's not going to be a coaching change anytime soon. We're stuck with Butch and should quit making numerous threads about who we want as our next coach.

You are wrong and I'd bet my savings on that.

Personally I don't think some coaches want the hassle of the competition week in and week out in the SEC.

He would absolutely be my number one pick. Even over Gruden and Chip Kelly. Petersen is the best developer and gameplanner in college football.

He should of been the one hired or first to turn down the job after an offer to make him the 2nd highest paid coach in the sec last time.

The SEC is a shell of it's former self. Other than Bama, Auburn and Georgia, it's really down. I don't think the competition weekly at this point is going to deter a top candidate, it may actually draw them

Want to know how to coach winning football? Here's your chance to take notes. Petersen is probably not a realistic option for Tennessee, but I want someone like him

Anyone with a decent/good resume isn’t a realistic option for us. Our university is to greedy and tight to hire a coach outside of the sunbelt,c-USA, etc.
