Chris Low Says It Will Be “Difficult” For Pruitt To Stay As HC

I agree. Freeze is a pipe dream. If we are gonna speak on it let’s speak about realistic options...Herman would be a good hire. Other names that will be mentioned whether people like it or not is:
1. Marrone (could be a good option)
2. Chadwell (doubt it)
3. Randy Sanders

Malzahn isn’t gonna want any part of this job if we have sanctions

I don't see Randy being a realistic option from our side. Don't want Marrone either. Not a huge fan of Gus unless he has humbled and willing to update his offense. Don't see any of those truly being worse than Pruitt though

Lol well I am not a Pruitt “hater” to be honest....at least not as much as some...but I think Marrone and Chadwell could be successful...Randy Sanders I would have my doubts

Thinking that Pruitt was fired at Alabama means you have your head in the sand or you just became a UT fan after Pruitt was hired here. Which is it?View attachment 336873
I have a bachelors and masters from UT. My family drove through Abingdon on their way to watch the Vols play since Battle was coaching. We went from 8 season tickets, to 6, to 4, to none now. The last year we had them (2017), you couldn’t give them away.
Sir, I am now and always have been fully aware Pruitt was not fired from Alabama.

We can definitely do worse than Fickell. My viewpoint is the way the modern game is played we should have an offensive HC. Why? The rules now and will forever always favor offense. The offense has always had an advantage because they know the play. Defense countered with aggression and intimidation; does that WR want to catch the high ball over the middle and get his head taken off? That can't be done anymore. Defense is obviously important but the pendulum has swung and even Saban has publicly acknowledged it too.

An offensive minded HC can establish an offensive identity that stays with the program regardless of the OC. I think that is more important than great defense. Think Clemson.

Now, saying that, I think the MOST important thing of any coach is that they understand the difference and know how to be a great CEO. A great OC or DC does not necessarily make a great HC. Completely different job descriptions. If I have the choice, I pick a good CEO with the offensive background for those reasons.

100% agree on the Saban tree. We need to stay away from Saban's tree at all costs.

I don't think there's a problem with hiring a former DC if he also understands the evolution of offense (see Nick Saban). The problem with Pruitt is he's wedded to an outdated 1990's offensive philosophy (as is Fulmer). I don't think Fickell suffers from the same affliction.

Plenty of great OCs who have flopped or been mediocre, as well. Gus Malzahn was one of the greatest offensive innovators of last decade, but he was only so-so as a head coach; supposedly he wasn't great at player development. Of course, that's why it's so difficult to hire; it's tough to figure out how skills translate. Some people are great at X's and O's, but bad at player development or managing a team. Some people are good at player development, but awful at hiring. Some people are great with development and recruiting, but awful at management.

It truly is a CEO type position. You have to be good at a lot of different things and even more importantly, you have to know what you're not good at, and find people who can make up for your weaknesses. I think that's what Saban does better than anyone. He knows where he's weak and hires the right people to offset that.

After listening to the audio, he is stating what I’ve been thinking since news broke about the investigation. That is UT is waiting and seeking a method to fire with with cause! No payout then!

Lowe said that Pruitt would lose his job because of the investigation not the 3-7 record, that's pathetic. I know whatever it takes but wow what an admin...

Not many people willing to adapt like Saban. One of his greatest strengths imo. His style, a lot of great coaches would have had the game pass them by a few years ago but he realized it and was humble enough to change his philosophy. A philosophy that won multiple championships. That takes balls.

Last paragraph is spot on. CEO needs to be a great leader and build a team that compliments each other. I'd prefer an offensive HC but agree with you that getting a great CEO and program manager is more important.

Maybe I replied to the wrong poster. Thought you stated otherwise or it was blue font. My apologies if I’m wrong.

MALZAHN. I was right about Mullen being a top tier coach and I’m right about this one. Malzahn can recruit and would be eager to prove himself again. Already has SEC high school relationships. It will work
I agreed with you on Mullen and you're right again with Malzahn. I think Mullen is the better coach but both are leaps and bounds better than what we have
