:loco: It's rare for an NFL HC coach to move to the College ranks to begin with. So, you're suggestion is ridiculous to begin with. Carroll did a fine job, and before you say "well anyone can recruit to SoCal"...really? How did that work out for Robinson and all his predecessors? USC only started dominating AFTER Carroll came from the NFL. Bama only started dominating AFTER Saban came from the NFL (yes he was successful as a college coach before...but his experience in the NFL helps sell recruits Big time).
Kiffin sold the NFL experience to recruits he was after, while here and was very successful at it...even though the program was in the doldrums. In fact, it's a point he continues to sell at his new destination, USC.
As for Gruden's "unemployment"...uh, he makes about as much on TV as he would coaching. THAT is why he hasn't returned. He's been asked many times over, genius. Show what kind of bubble you've been living in, down there in your sister's bedroom.
