Chris Low: it's almost over final 3 candidates

This thread title is misleading. Not sure where Low states this is the 'final' list. Sounds to me that this is the list of 'possible' candidates based on what he's hearing.

That said, this list is horrible. Like 95% of you, if it's Schiano, I'm done for multiple reasons.

If its Schiano I hope there is rioting in Knoxville. I'd expect some Deliverance level ****. The man does not deserve another HC gig in the SEC. Just pure horsechit that he his name keeps coming up.

Honestly if this is the best list we have than we need to put differences aside and rehire Lane Kiffin. He is a proven offensive minded genius, just need to D coordinator to compliment him. Regardless of how he left TN he is willing to listen and contract can be negotiated to favor the University. My fear is that FL will swing and miss on Frost and look to Kiffin, if that is the case we will be on another 12 game losing streak!

Wow...that’s the list? Matt Campbell is a nobody. Greg Schiano...yawn! Out of those 3, better hope it’s Mullen. This is sad. If this is true...It’s official...Tennessee is indeed a 2nd tier school. Pains me to say it.

The pain should be over by now, going on two decades now...

Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano has been a popular name over the last handful of days, but the former Rutgers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach doesn’t seem to be a serious candidate for the opening at Tennessee.

Feedback from athletic-department personnel has been that Schiano would not be a good fit as Tennessee’s next head coach.

If it was Shiano I’d imagine Currie would need to hire a full time around the clock security or resign.

Shiano would be disgraceful.

Mullen is top choice. Campbell 2nd but buyout makes him not realistic. Cannot understand Norvell not being in the mix.

Schiano is the top realistic choice - like it or not. He is a top notch coach who flopped in NFL and has been several years regaining his chops. Has done a nice job at Ohio State as DC and has strong recruiting ties in relevant states for UT.

Enough on the Penn State hysteria - no one knows the accuracy of the claims - this was settled long ago and the perpetrator is in prison never to see light of day again.

Schiano is one of the better coaches available in any year with no buyout - give him a salary pool to get top assistants. He has effectively been Assistant Head Coach at Ohio State and watch his recent interviews on youtube. Good work by Currie identifying this guy and if Mullen says no which I anticipate, go get Greg Schiano.

Mullen ok I gues! SEC expirience! If it’s not a proven coach then our entire family and most friends are done with TN football! How can we support a school and team when the people in charge do not! There will be a meltdown if there’s another pretender hired!

I was unaware that we backed off Campbell. Can someone provide a link or is that more speculating?

I would have never guessed we would have fallen so far in such a short time. Been a VOLS fan for 40 years and this is an all-time low. We need an Admin change if that's the only list we have for coaches.

So what happens when one of them starts winning and Currie turns out to be a genius? Will you and big important buddies come back with your tail between your legs?

They won't remember posts from 2 years earlier or when some of the temporary big name heroes flop at another school. P.J. Fleck has struggled this year and he maybe should have waited for another job than Minnesota. Big name last year - nothing this year.

Some even want Lane Kiffin - the most worthless pile of trash ever to set foot on UT campus to come back. I guess having no long term memory is contagious.

Schiano just isn't happening. Mullen is possible, and Matt Campbell had been ruled out. Don't listen to anyone involving this search, no one outside of Peyton manning, Philip Fuller, jimmy Harlem, John Currie and Charlie Anderson, and I guess the actual coach know who we've hired. Everyone else is fishing for likes. Think about the UCLA situation. First they didn't want Kelly, then Kelly didn't want them, then bang he's the coach. These media members are awful.
