Was playing with the 247 class calculator, McGhee, Punter, Mostella, Owens and Cofer would still only have us around 36, thought it would be higher.
Tariq Owens is coming in on an official next week as is Phil Cofer, that's two big ones. I think Suarez, the PG that signed at USM, is still a possibility. Depending on how things go with Cofer I think the staff could make a move on Willie Carmichael, the USM signee that was recently released. I imagine we might see another name or two pop out of nowhere like Mostella did this week.
Tyndall knows what he needs here. His words if you haven't read them yet:
Southern Mississippi's roster this season included seven junior-college transfers and two Division I transfers. Tyndall says his recruiting approach will change now that he's in the SEC. He plans to target Tennessee, Georgia and Florida while emphasizing Memphis.
"At this level, you have to for the most part recruit top-100 type high school players and build it with high school guys," Tyndall said. "This first year could be a little different because it's so late in the process. Trying to get the best high school players, there just aren't many of those out there right now. I do think moving forward you'll have a timely junior-college transfer or four-year transfer sprinkled in with predominantly high school guys."
I dont come to the Basketball Forum much, but it seems the attitude has changed here. When CDT was first hired, it seemed like 75% of the posters here thought it was a crap hire. Now it seems like most are happy. At first people thought he wouldnt be able to recruit. Now he has proven he can. Hopefully hell make some on court progress. Hopefully people temper their expectations for this first season
