Someone said he has been moved to DE, or at least that's where he was practicing today.

Practiced at DE today.

We aren't exactly deep at LB, so they must feel he won't be able to contribute there.

I think he's better suited at DE.

like Chumpton, a bust who did well against inferior HS talent and was over projected, deal with it

So at LB we have McCoy(assuming knee is ok), Reveiz, Lathers, Frazier, Thompson, Askew. Is that about right for top 6? Anyone heard how Frazier and Askew have been doing?

Thompson said they moved him to DE because that fits his skill set better.

They are going to use him as a speed rusher on third down.

He is only a sophomore dude.....not a complete bust yet by any stretch. Give him a chance in this system and under these coaches before you throw the kid on the scrap heap. Guy by the name of Carson Palmer at USC was called a complete "bust" until his SR year.....he ended up doing OK for himself, dont ya think?

R-soph who has yet to put it together under 2 different coaching staffs.

lol @ comparing a heisman trophy winner @ a mental position like QB to a to a middle TN hs product who plays a position built on strength and intensity, save this message if Donald wins the Lombardi.

best case: he is a solid contributor as a JR/SR but will never live up to the 5* billing, deal with it

SO let me get this straight.....QB is just a "mental" position now???? CP wasnt anywhere CLOSE to a Heisman type player his first 3 years, then he busted out under Carroll. I am not saying it will happen, but CD could very well have the same type of turn around. Like you said though, he has to want it.

i dont think cb is a bust i think the lack of past
coaching did not give him the chance to show his talents

Who cares about stars! Since you like stars so much, why don't you meet CD coming across the middle, & see how many stars you can see! Lol! How has he not met the bill under this coaching staff, when we haven't even played a game under the new staff?? Robert ayers didn't produce until his jr-sr year, & last I checked, he was a 1st round draft pick, signed a fat contract, & was doing pretty good for himself! Honestly I don't think CD cares what you think of his abilities, neither do I, so you deal with it! Nobody is losing any sleep over what you or anyone else thinks negative bout CD.

I wouldn't compare CD to CP either but you are wrong in your assessment of the LB position. LB must read and react much like a QB. LB is the "QB" of the defense.

Personally I'm loving the move to DE. Just like coach said, it will utilize his skills better!

The moves of Sykes and Donald today were both good imo. Sykes has had a good week from what I hear. If there is one guy on this staff who can get Donald turned around it is Orgeron on the d-line. I think Coach O could still use Donald's speed off the edge to wreak havoc. Don't give up on him yet guys...

You are leaving out King. He has been the most impressive freshmen so far. I really haven't heard much about Askew at all. Here's the depth chart the way I understand it:

OLB- McCoy, Frazier
MLB- Reveiz, Lathers, King
OLB- Thompson, S. Reveiz, Vereen

I'm not sure where Nelson, Askew, and Mitchell-Thornton are at this point. That spot for MLB is going to be the real battle. Lathers is killing people and King is great in pass coverage and that's what Monte loves at that position. I think those 3 are all about even as of now. I always imagined that Frazier would challenge Thompson for the one OLB spot, but Savion doesn't seem to be making a huge play for it and is still backing up McCoy so far...

I thought CD was from West Tennessee (Huntingdon, TN)?

A guy named Patrick Willis from Bruceton, TN. (1A ball) was pretty good against inferior competition too. Didn't he turn out ok?

Come on man, bring something with a little more substance.

Is this Chris himself? A message board is for discussing so if you have a problem with people telling their honest opinions on your favorite athletes then maybe you should not get on here. As for Robert Ayers he didnt do a ton as a r-FR but played in 9 games and had a sack but he stared a couple games his r-SO season and also did alot of special teams work. So that is not a good comparison. Ayers was a guy who didnt play a ton early on but had alot of promise something Chris Donald has not shown since he got on campus. Had CD not been a 5* guy hardly anyone on here would even probably know who he is based on the contribution he has put forth thus far.

You can find one example of anything, dont act like thats not a valid argument. Just because one guy can dominate D3 and make it to the NFL doesnt mean the NFL should take every good D3 guy. Inferior competition is a big deal and can make guys look much better than they are. In 2a ball at 220 there is a good chance he was one of the biggest guys on the field and with his speed and stuff and how some of the 2a programs are its not even fair.
