I'm throwing this name out just for fun. I like Kelly--I like the style he plays and I think Oregon's D is underrated this year. Who knows if it could work in the SEC but it would be interesting to find out! Could you imagine an Orange Air Raid?

I think you meant to post this in a Cleveland Browns message board. Honest mistake.

There is absolutely no reason for him to leave Oregon.

Exaxtly. Plus, volnation isn't patient enough to give him the 4+ years needed to install/recruit the players needed to run his offense, 'cuz we sure don't have them now.

Why would any coach in their right mind leave Nike U?

He may listen to another schools offer just.long enough for Nike to give him a big ole raise.

His offense is nothing like the Air Raid. Kelly runs a run first/play action pass offense.

That said, I'd love for him to be our coach but I doubt be would have any interest.

That's what they said about Urban Meyer's offense. 2 national titles later..... just saying...

We've seen inverted veer with a passing system that a high-schooler could run, spread option, crap straight from Erickson in the 90's and a hash mash Crowtonesque-Coughlin system win in the past decade so...yeah. Labeling one offense pertaining to winning in the SEC would be way off the mark.

And he runs shallow/mesh/4 verts. But you really can't label that as ar anymore. No where near tfs/ar terminology. Pretty simple system with a lot of vertical stems that destroy pattern reading.

I don't actually think you mean, "we're going to get Chip Kelly." Rather, what I think you're asking is if Kelly's offense is going to work in the SEC.

Well, yes. Any offense can work at just about any level (there are some exceptions to this), with players that can fit your system and having guys who will buy in.

There isn't one way to win in this league, but we've been conditioned to think that because most of the teams who dominate this league have solid rushing attacks and good defense. However, I don't think this is because that style is most conducive for success, rather, it is because nobody has tried anything else, aside from Kentucky's air raid in the 1990's, or Auburn's 2010 championship run with Malzahn (although that offense is basically a wing-T out of the shotgun).
