You really think hes going to tell PF "Hey Paul got a call from Currie last night" so then PF can go on his show and tell the world UT and Chip Kelly are talking before CBJ is even fired? What universe do some people live in?

When and if the time comes where we decide to cut ties with Butch, his replacement better be a CLEAR upgrade.

Kelly would not be, IMO.

Currie is supportive of Butch. He’ll finish the season and have the opportunity to “correct” hires. Recruiting class is pretty successful right now. Butch needs to let go if the reigns on offense. Players like Scott and thinks he can make some changes.

Got any way to back any of this up or are you just shooting from the heart?

Seems like we've been there and done that.

During his Monday morning guest appearance on WJOX 94.5 FM radio program The Opening Drive, SEC Network host Paul Finebaum was asked to give his thoughts on where his current ESPN co-worker Kelly may be coaching in 2018.

“It’s an awkward kabuki dance every Sunday morning about 7:15 when I bump into him,” Finebaum said on the air, “because I have the same response wherever I have previously been, I say ‘Chip, I was in Knoxville yesterday, saw a lot of signs with your name on it. Anything new?’ He says, ‘Haven’t gotten a call yet.’

“I mean, I’ve talked to him. I don’t want to speak for him because I don’t know him that well… I think he clearly wants to coach. He’s up there (at ESPN) studying college football, and I do believe he will be back very quickly.”

This is absolutely unacceptable if true. How do you not at least reach out and start building a potential relationship here?

Nick Saban never received a call from Bama until after his introductory PC. :) Same with Butch Davis TWICE...when he was the Cowboys DC (hired at the U) and as the Canes HC (hired by the Browns). I wouldn’t gauge his interest by inside information provided by PAUL.

it would be an epic fail if we didn't at least call and gauge his interest and /or take a shot.

There are around 10 names around college football that most everyone would agree as solid coaching ability.

Chip Kelly definitely would be in that discussion.
a hire like him would put us on par with Meyer, Harbaugh, and honestly not too far behind a Saban.

If we want to compete at that level we need a coach like kelly at the helm. He is proven. He is successful. He is available. AND HE HAS NO DANG BUYOUT!

I like Venables still, but out of the guys available, CK is by far the best after him. If Brent wants to stay in Clemson, we cant miss CK. I hate the show clause, but someone will get him and win with him soon...I guess I hate mediocrity more.

True either way Skippy. Quit trying to be "that guy" you are failing miserably

No one is trying to do anything here other than spread some information and start some discussion. Perhaps you should find a better way to spend your time if you don't like it.

You could also stand to take a few reading comprehension classes. Community college didn't serve you well.

Some of you are so gullible. Do you think he would spill the beans if had received a call? Or more likely, he told the truth because his agent received a call and not him directly?

Don't believe anything you read.
