China Thread

I decided to breakdown how I would allocate an additional $113B in value to the Pacific to counter China.

(This list is for fun, and for effect. It’s not exhaustive/inclusive. It does not include men or materiel. These are simply additional line item adds, and are not meant to represent viable groups.)

2 Ford Class Super Carriers
4 America Class Light Carriers
5 Arleigh Burke Destroyers
35 Constellation Class Frigates
72 F-35C Fighter Aircraft
88 F-35B Fighter Aircraft
48 SeaHawk Utility Helicopters
5 Virginia Class Attack Submarines

That is -
6 Aircraft Carriers
40 Surface Combatants
5 Submarines
208 Aircraft

For IndoPacific Command to deploy against China.
Are they trying to make me go back and re-calculate all of my allocations?!

Pentagon error overvalued US weapons aid to Ukraine by $3bn

US Signs New Security Pact with Papua New Guinea amid Competition with China

Apparently somebody in DC finally woke up after the Chinese signed a "security pact" with the Solomon Islands last year. For those who remember WW2 history, the Solomons are the islands (including Guadalcanal) forming what was called the "Slot" (New Georgia Sound). The Chinese sprawl could limit access to Australia ... if the Chinese could hold it. Just another bone of contention; the Chinese love pushing the boundary, and with their creative history of ownership, perhaps the Solomons in a few more years will really be historically Chinese territory.

We may need those LCS ships after all

They can build cruisers with 130 tubes.

I’ll take fewer tubes across more destroyers and frigates - But we have to actually build the destroyers and frigates….

I agree in distribution, but I think the Pentagon must be questioning everything with what is happening in Ukraine..they are going thru munitions so fast. Thing is those munition replenishment ships would sure be juicy targets. The challenges of the vast Pacific.

US Navy prioritizes ‘game-changing’ rearming capability for ships.

Love it. Certainly better than my balloon hellfires.
Wonder if one could handle a couple of NSM’s.

How much one of those gonna cost?

Knowing Pentagon procurement, Probably $500M each if you buy 1..$600M each for qty 5.
After reading about that loitering missile..10 lb warhead..me disappointed.

Yea, clearly more of an ISR drone. Maybe take out a couple bad guys.

I want to see strike missiles. And they would definitely find a way to make it needlessly cost 100’s of millions of dollars.

They don’t even have to be stealthy. They just need to be distributed, in numbers.

Launch a hundred hot air balloons with hellfires duct taped to the baskets - I don’t care. Just put some more missiles on the board.
Ha! This is practically my hot air balloon with duct taped hellfires.

A rubber raft with a stinger.

We can probably do a little better than that. But that’s the idea.
