Chaz Coleman's future remains uncertain (CBS)

I had high hopes for Jordan Ross. Any 5 star edge rusher you get is supposed to be a big deal and he’s entering his 3rd year. However, LSU probably paid him a king’s ransom and he hadn’t shown the value yet.
We all had hopes he’d replace Pearce. He had the lowest pass rush percentage of the DEs last year & 1.5 sacks total playing far more here than Coleman did at Penn State

Kiffin pushed hard for Coleman.

My question is, if it’s not a medical situation, who knows, Im a little surprised at Knowles. Would have thought he would have known or developed an opinion of Chaz and his personality. Could he not have warned Heup about him? Unless the money has just overwhelmed the kid.

Money changes a lot of people.
Also leads to bad decisions like not getting $2,950,000 of a 3M contract then getting a lot less at the next stop with no leverage and more caveats while also a deterrent to NFL GMs.
I’ve been supportive of Chaz and those struggling with mental health. If people had been to as many suicide funerals as I have the past 5-6 years they would understand, but those people weren’t posting pics of themselves with $1000s in cash like a wannabe rapper while not fulfilling their contract agreements, so he’s lost my support after those posts. He’s not all there though and needs help.

I'm trying to still be supportive but the money show posts would make me unleash Rodney Garner on him for more than a church service and a full on "Come to Jesus" rant that would wilt the lettuce at the last supper.

He likely has some medical issues but acting the fool online isn't tolerable even for sick kids. No UT player should be fanning money online. Period. Set the young man straight about that, first. Unacceptable.

For me, and hopefully for the staff, the rope is really, really fraying for Coleman. Get help and get back to the team is always what I want for players with issues, but there's a point where we've done all we can do as a program for someone.

If he’s willing to be a part of the program, is having regular dialogue with the coaches and staff, and is determined to find a way to overcome whatever challenges and difficulties he’s facing this should be a non story. There would be an understanding with all parties. The fact that Pete Nakos is reporting this type of thing for On3 this means there’s a big problem, bc someone is leaking it in a way to apply pressure to the situation, or to get out in front of it after it goes bad. At this point, it’s very difficult to see a scenario where he ends up playing football this fall. I hope I’m wrong.

Best wat to deal with Chaz: Offer all the help necessary for Chaz' health and growth from a kid to a productive young man; psychological and emotional counselling, specialized medical care, tutoring, whatever he needs to develop as an individual.

But Chaz should be removed from the team and his NIL should be removed from him. Try to help him but not as a Tennessee Volunteer.

If this kid plays for this team, I could see him being a big time player like Janzen Jackson. Just reminds me of the type

Lots of off field drama but very talented player

It’s only a few that cause problems, we seem to be getting 1 every year. Players that bring this type of behavior rarely work out. Time to let him go, plenty of folks out there ready and eager for the opportunity. This is more about drama than vertigo. The actions are the tell all. He isn’t even trying to be a teammate. We’re better off without him at this point. If your not willing to even come to practice, if your not willing to communicate with the S@C coach then your done. We don’t want to be known as a school that lets players like this try to dictate things. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but it is becoming obvious he isn’t interested if he isn’t showing up. We don’t have time for drama, it’s workout season. If he can’t be there now, he can’t contribute in the fall. GBO

Players paid and this is business. Show him the exit. Doesn't matter if it's volunteer summer practice. He needs to be gelling with his teammates instead of posting photos online flashing money. Can't let this type of attitude cause locker room issues

"Late in spring practice, sources told Volquest that Tennessee met with Coleman and his family to work towards a path for his return to the field. Sources indicated to Volquest that both parties agreed to restructure his deal and that most of his money was pushed back until a date late this fall to protect Tennessee because of the ongoing issue with attendance in the building."

So, you're not getting anymore money, you're not getting in any reps or conditioning, and you'd probably need an NCAA waiver to be allowed to leave UT and sign elsewhere and play this season.

No one appears to be winning here. It's sad all the way around.

Wow. Well at least UT NIL isn't paying further for nothing in return.
