Chaz Coleman's future remains uncertain (CBS)

So if this ends up with him not playing, he keeps the NIL money and that's it right? I remember seeing a couple cases the last season or two of teams suing former players over money. Not saying UT should do that if it comes to it but just wondering what the options are.
Lawsuits like the one Duke filed against Mensah were based on him apparently having signed a revenue sharing agreement to play for Duke then transferring to Miami, I believe.

It's likely Coleman has a revenue sharing deal to play at UT but if he's not trying to transfer to another school AND the contracts can't be performance based, I'm not sure he's violating the contract by not playing.

Certainly they can dismiss him from the team for not showing up to official meetings and such and I guess they could stop any future payments after dismissal "for cause" but I'd bet whatever he's been paid while in "good standing" with the team is gone.

"Those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it."

Truer words never spoken. Here at VolNation, those ghosts still haunt "what might have been."

At this point, UT has to move forward under the assumption that he will not see the field in any meaningful way this season, if ever. So next man up.

Support him...Encourage him...Challenge him. Do everything you can to help him reach his potential.

But you absolutely cannot count on him until he takes the field and proves he was worth it.

It is what it is.

Go Vols.

This is the new world of college football, basketball, baseball, softball, etc, etc.

Don’t get emotionally attached to any player. They hold ALL the cards and can pack up and leave at most any time, for any reason, to the highest bidder. There will be some football players who exceed expectations this fall for the Vols. After the season, then we hold our breath hoping that the player and his family and agent are satisfied with whatever deal is on the table for 27.

Unless something changes for college sports soon, by the time the Super Bowl comes to Nashville, there may be a great number of former college sports fans who don’t give a crap about who wins and who doesn’t. I may be one of them.

Yeah because you know the kid right? I mean you know him and his family personally. You know exactly what he is dealing with right? Jesus dude what is wrong with you?

So what's your take on it?

And I'm being honest here, not baiting. I have my thoughts.

Edit: My opinion is...at this point...that he never makes a difference at UT. I hope he proves me wrong.

What's yours?

For what?

Technically he’s not violating his contract.

He doesn’t have to play a down of football to receive NIL money.

You guys wanted kids to have a piece of the pie? Here’s what you get.

No point in complaining about it now.
Revenue sharing! NIL isn’t the primary form of payment, Josh.

Him doing money spreads on instagram while tagging the song feeding lies. The jokes write themselves. He has 3 million reasons why he should nut up or shut up. We got to stop acting like these guys are kids and they don’t know no better. He's making more money this year that 99% of the fanbase will never see in a decade.

Could have sworn there was one from Georgia a year ago as well. Something about them trying to recoup NIL money I thought?
