Chase Burns called up

He was a Vol, not a Vol for life and I’ll leave it at that.

I’d say the same for Andrew Fischer or Liam Doyle.
🤷‍♂️
I can’t say the same for Doyle and Fischer. It’s not where you start, but where you finish before moving up to the league so I definitely consider them VFL’s. I always laugh at Bama fans that take credit for Jalen Hurts as well. We can agree to disagree, but that’s my take. I wish nothing bad for Chase either btw.

I definitely don’t wish I’ll will on the kid and I certainly won’t root for him to fail, I just won’t be cheering for him.

Amen, do you think those guys that do transfer here their old teams call them For Life for their teams? No they don’t but yet some of our fans will do that for anyone who played here and makes the majors, NFL or what not. But in the end they left and therefore they are not VFL!

Why do people hate on a kid that did what he thought was best for himself? He wanted to be a starter and CA thought otherwise. It appears CB was right.
He was going to be a starter again for us last year until/unless he got lit up again. He was a starter for 1.5 seasons of his 2 on campus. He was getting torched on Friday’s and putting us in a hole for the weekend so the staff made a change for the time being. It turned the team and season around and completely reset him to the 2022 version of himself. There was zero chance he wasn’t starting opening weekend 2024 had he stayed.

I'll be there for his debut! We bought tickets a couple days before they announced his call up! Tough debut against Judge but we'll see! I get how some are anti Chase because of the situation and I was pissed when he transferred to but im pulling for the kid! Hopefully he has a much better career than our (Reds) last former Vol.
added Chase to my fantasy team since three of my SPs are on the IL. @MAD Hope that Skubal, my top starter, wont meet the same fate as Sale and the others.

Please help me get my Adoration•Anger meter calibrated correctly here.

So, if a player comes here and plays a year or 3, then transfers to another school, then I should uhhh, hate bc player is not VFL. But, if a player goes to a different school or schools for a year or 3, then transfer here to play his last season or 2, then I should adore bc that player is a VFL. I get the feeling that I should hate anyone whose career ends elsewhere, but adore anyone who ends career here. And one other tidbit. If a player plays 3 or 4 years here and transfers out shouldn't they be like a VFY (Vol For Years) but on the Anger meter. But, if they transfer in for 1 year then they are now a VFL or Vol For Life lock?

Thanks for the help. Knowing who to love or despise is so confusing now. I've got to get peace about this, at least before football starts.

Being a lifelong Reds fan I have mixed feelings. I do appreciate what he did while he was here.
Don’t have mixed feelings. This is professional baseball where guys switch teams all the time. It’s an exciting time to be a Reds fan. That pitching staff is going to be loaded. Just pick up a big bat in free agency and you will be contending for the division next year 👍

No he didn't. He busted his ass until the season was done, and made a decision about what he wanted for his future.
You have the right to defend him and see it as you do. I do as well. Just bc he played doesnt mean he was a good teammate at that time. Everyone who remembers, remembers that the team was uptight and something seemed off and then reports came out, true or not, that he was a bit of a cancer in the locker room.
You may root for him to succeed, but i never will and to me, as is with a lot of VOL fans, he is just another baseball player and to us, he will never be given the VFL moniker.

Pretty much and with him he was a little bitch and so left for Wake and ended up not winning it like the Vols did! So I feel for him but he’s still a little bitch and so not a VFL. Hope that clears some confusion up for you. I mean it’s simple, you come here and finish out your college eligibility, VFL, if you end up somewhere else like Tootoo or whoever you spell it, you were a Vols player and that’s it.

so right about Bama fans about. If you live in the Bham market, you would believe Hurts never
left

Yep, kind of like a marriage. 2nd marriages backfilling a loss of spouse CAN be a great thing, ex’s that walk out while you still love them not so much. Even if they are searching for their dream babe. Mutual separations a different class altogether. Not a one size fits all answer here.
