Strong can't win at Texas HTF is he going to win at UT.

If he didn't get the support he deserved from the AD, then go win and you will have everyone's support.

We could do (and have done) a lot worse than Charlie Strong. He's in my 2nd tier list though.

1st tier

Gruden
Petersonot
Fuentes
Frost
Mullen


2nd Tier

Strong
Campbell
Tee
Venables
Miles

Tier 2 is pretty interchangeable to me.

I live in Austin and watched Strong. He's a good defensive coach (or so we were told) ...his tenure with coaches, players etc was a train wreck.

He caught lightening in a bottle at Louisville

If he cant recruit in Texas he surely cant recruit in Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and the Carolinas.

Look at their schedule this year. EVERY win is against a team that is .500 or worse, except the FCS win against Stony Brook. Not much different when he had good records at Louisville, against weak schedules. Texas shows what he can do against power 5 competition. Don't need more mediocrity at UT.

Lol maybe we don't want him because of 7 seasons he had just 2 of better than 7 wins......2 good seasons at Louosville does not spell........"send him to us" not to mention the utter fail at Texas......he is a D man......and defense got him fired at Texas. Strong took over a team that was 11-2 an he is doing good with a great QB which was already there.......

Sure he is good but what in the world shows he should be Tennessee's coach........black or white.

Shaw would be my #2 but he ain't leaving Stanford........and he ain't white.

Please put Brohm somewhere if you’re actually going to rank Tee that high. If he hadn’t played here, you’d probably think it would be moronic to hire him.

....he's playing with Willie Taggart's team. Strong's been there less than a year.

Plus, USF was favored to win the AAC entering the season. Strong basically took over a team that won 10 last year, has a high octane offense, and favored to win and then promptly lost to a decent Houston team, struggled to beat a horrible Tulsa team, and didn't even make the AAC Championship game. Charlie Strong basically inherited a Ferrari and never took it out of the driveway.

Frost and Norvell are better coaches and hungrier.
