Lol I usually feel the same as the majority on here, but not this time. I'm not saying he should be option #1, but we'd be lucky to have him. He's been a very successful Power 5 coach at Louisville, and just because things didn't work out at Texas doesn't mean that's all on him. That place is toxic. He was long overdue for a head coaching job by the time he finally got one at Louisville, and has huge ties to Florida recruiting. I bet he gained some ties in his time at Texas, as well. Plus, he's just a good dude. People like him. I'd still be happier to have him than a good deal of candidates being discussed.

Does Charlie Strong have national championship potential? If the answer is no, he should not be hired.

(the answer is no)

He turned us down before so He doesn't get another shot at the keys to the kingdom...Plus he stunk it up at Texas and is winning with a already loaded roster at USF...No thanks

I want a coach who has had a good past three years. Not so much three years in his life, but the past three. His time at Texas has devalued him in that respect, so he is further down the list for me. He should have said yes 5 years ago.

i agree. but if it comes down to those three, we already failed.

I'm afraid expectations are way too high. Because of an apparent "evolution" in management, I think we are a family of share croppers who still believe in Santa Clause. Nuts for Christmas again.

Shouldn't be in UTs top 20 at this point.

They should be striving for more than a guy who can cobble together a couple of good seasons at Louisville.

Already had one failure from the Big East.

What you have to understand is that strong was never wanted by boosters in Texas. They made the situation difficult. Not really going the support. He was successful at Louisville and good at Florida As a d coordinator. I mean some of you are debunking strong but Houston’s former coach is failing also. Personally i think he would be a hell of hire for UT. They need a defensive coach they do better in SEC. Strong recruits well in Florida. He has to be close to that area to be successful and UT is close enough to be successful.

Unless Tenns Academic admissions policy, and the control that the academia nerds on the board are holding over the Athletic Dept, (unlike anywhere else in the SEC) forcing Tenn to not be allowed players who qualify at EVERY SEC and Power 5 School have been removed., he still wont come because of it, just like 5 years ago..
