Charlie Strong

They're #18 but luckily they don't play no other team ranked in the top 25 because they would get boat raced.

18th is the highest Taggart got. Strong has them currently at #15. He could very well crash the top 6 by end of the season. But I’m sure that’s just dumb luck and has nothing to do with him.

Not sure where your getting the #15 ranking.

But their ranking has definately nothing to do with playing Power 5 teams. USF no matter the coach has no buisness being in the top 10 no matter their record.

This isn't remotely close to being true. Wow...

Quit looking thru Vol goggles. What Mack did to that program and boosters in the last two seasons set anyone that followed him up for failure. Hell, Strong had to dismiss a bunch of players loyal to Brown and other issues. Also, half the boosters who were loyal to Mack hated him from Day 1.

He did not have a cakewalk at Texas that everyone said he did. Stevie Wonder could see that.

Reading is hard.

Also if he winds up in the Top 10 at USF, he’s definitely a good coach by your standards since you think no coach is ever good enough to get in the top 10 with that program.

He couldn't win at Texas, there is no way he could win at Tennessee.

Apples to oranges comparison.

Strong would literally be a Kirby Smart Hire. As long as he would find a good OC, we would be fine under him. We could definitely do much worse than him.

Guys quit attacking Strong. His fanboy JMSqb11 will defend him no matter what you say.

Butch looked great playing lesser competition

Same with Strong

Honest question, when did Butch ever look great at Cincy? Not comparing him to Strong here but Butch was never a world beater at Cincy. I mean the guy claims two conference titles but lost them via tiebreakers.

The coaches poll????

Poll is just as big a factor as AP Poll. Let’s split the difference between the two. He still has a better ranking at USF than Taggart ever did.

Once again, he’s likely going to go 12-0 or 11-1 at worst. In his first year out of Texas. That’s not dumb luck.

No one is apologizing anyone but you. (syntax Chernobyl) Also, you’re insane for comparing a one game record vs five game record.

You don’t need anyone else in your discussions. :) Where did I personally compare records? Would like to read it. :hi: Nice use of the “you” vehicle btw.

You compared Butch going 1-0 in the first game to Strong’s 5-0 record thru 5 games. It’s right there in black and white.

Vol goggles? What the Hell does that even mean? I've been following recruiting longer than you've been alive. There isn't any chance in Hell that the situation CBJ walked into at Tennessee was better than what CCS walked into at Texas, no matter how much you think it was.

Mac Browns last 4 classes were ALL TOP 5 CLASSES. Your premise is complete and utter stupidity. There wasn't that much attrition either. Just stop.

Once again, no it's not luck. It's because he followed Taggart and took over his team.

But im bowing out. Strong sucks and will never be considered here because of his 2012 decision and his Texas resume.

When you have to kick off 9-10 players in one season, it doesn’t matter how high your classes came in. Also, Mack didn’t develop any players his last two years either. Once again, doesn’t matter how well you recruit if you can’t develop. Strong basically had plenty of upperclassmen that were duds when he took over and bunch of underclassmen loyal to Brown.

Did Butch pay you in bricks for that comment?

Also, Currie wasn’t here in 2012. He has no reason to not interview Strong if interested in Charlie.

Guess we can contrast and compare Strong’s last season and Herman’s first AFTER the fact...when that happens. If we go on what we’ve witnessed so far they’ve lost to a full strength Maryland squad and USC. The former was more negative when we didn’t glimpse how hard those kids play for Durkin. And the other was USC and they almost won. Compare that to the lifeless product stocked with Strong’s recruits (including his last class which was top 10). They lost to Kansas! That team’s lone Big 12 win and became twinsies with Rhode Island in that department overall. That’s an abortion coaching wise. He’s not the answer.
So do we totally dismiss the job he did at Louisville? Aside from the obvious great coaches like saban, Meyer, Dabo, and pederson, Charlie Strong is in that 2nd tier coaching bracket who would be good hire imo. USF plays ucf and if they’re both undefeated when they meet then I say hire the winning coach, I think both would be great hires for Tennessee

I’m not that far. However, Strong has bounced back nicely. We could definitely do worse but he isn’t in my top 3-4
