Charlie Strong

Not my first choice, but we could do worse. Got very raw deal at Texas. As some said, he never had full support. In addition to that he walked into a mess of entitled criminals. He cleans house and gets fired for his troubles. I do think OLe Miss would be ideal, but I would be ok with him in Knoxville.

If Strong can't win at Texas, there is no way he'd win in the SEC at Tennessee.
I was glad he didn't come the last time and I sure don't want him now.

Texas job was worse condition than Tennessee. He also was constantly having to deflect half the boosters from day 1. We could do much worse than Strong. He has it out vs Florida and can recruit South Florida Better than anyone. My only concern is his history of OC hires.

Strong, great DC, but hasn't proven he can be a HC. Texas may not have been in the best shape when he took over, but it's Texas. If you can't do it there, you can't do it anywhere!

Please keep in far away from Knoxville. He is obviously not suited for the pressures of a big program....at least as a HC.

You can win there if you have full support from everyone when you get the job. Half the boosters didn’t want him from Day 1. He also had bad luck as his QB had like 3 concussions.

Texas was also in way worse shape than what Dooley left us in. He took the job and owns that, but he didn’t get a fair shake there.

Also, his type of ball wasn’t the best for Big 12 football. It’s very rare that a defensive oriented coach gets a head coaching job in the Big 12. He took the Job because it’s Texas. No one is turning that gig down.

He wasn't that impressive at Louisville either. By the end, the big east was a terrible conference. Maybe he didn't get the full support at Texas, but that really is one of the best jobs in all of college.

Great recruits, big 12 isn't the toughest conference, great fans and facilities. They have probably more money than anyone in all of college

Dudes gonna go 12-0 this year. If he crashes the the top 5 or 6, he’s gonna get offers. Dude got a bad rap at Texas. Walked into a no win situation.

Should have ponied up the money to get him here after he went back to UL. Has a chip on his shoulder with Florida hiring over him because of his wife and can recruit South florida better than anyone. He’s worth a look if we go cheap route (which is likely). Not a top 3 choice but definitely top 5. Especially if he goes 12-0.

Honestly, I see him getting an offer from Ole Miss as his recruiting prowess would be huge for them given the world of hurt their gonna be in.
Texas was no where as bad as what Butch walked into at Tennessee and posters on this board are trying to run him out of town on a rail. What a shame!

You’re looking thru Vol goggles if you think we were worse off than what Mack Brown did to that program in his last two years. Strong definitely took over a horrible job.

We sure didn't last time....or the time before that.....or the time before that.

False! He left Texas much worse than it was when he arrive there. If Tennessee is stupid enough to let Butch go, whenever would replace would have a lot of talent to work with except maybe at QB and that position would be Better if the QBs currently committed sign for next year.

He turned us down, I see no need to ever consider Charlie for the UT HC position again. That ship sailed a few years back.

If Strong was to go 12-0 this year (he has a great chance of that) and Chip and others tell us no, people would gladly welcome him over hiring another MAC type coach or even entertaining hiring Les Miles. Dude would be solid in the SEC East.

I wouldn’t be upset if it ended up him (after once again missing our top target(s) ).

So, if Tennessee is stupid enough to let Butch go?

Butch is the laughing stock of college football. Forget champions of life. We are the Champions of Mediocrity.

Texas is not a no win situation. Ever.
